Road Magnet/KONI

I just finished installing my CSK's and RM's and all I can say is WOW!!
It's so much better than my previous KYB GR-2 and Eibach Pro-kit setup. I have B15 yellow sports up front and B14 special in the rear with ME upper mounts. Finally I have full suspension travel with better dampening and high spring rates.
The before picture I have a sub box in the trunk which weighed it down a bit.
I also would like to thank all of those who took the time to answer my questions prior to the swap and to those who are the pioneers of CSK's. I will ride around for a couple hundred miles for the springs to settle before aligning the front end.

BEFORE .................................................. .................................................. ................ AFTER

Once I had all the parts in hand the progress took about a week between prep, paint, assembly and installation.

Can't wait to see the pics. Did you make the CSK's yourself?

Yes I did and I took pictures of the progress making them. Pretty easy if you ask me, just time consuming. I'll post all pics in the first post of this thread.

Cool. I'm interested in making some but I'm not sure if I could do it correctly.

Did you follow my instructions? If so we can add your pictures to my post. Let me see the pictures before we do that.

Very nice indeed. Good job! It evened out the front wheel gap perfectly. Looks really good. I like those OEM wheels BTW.

Nicely done and yes thats the right way. Only one suggestion. Loose the wave washer and cut the bolt shorter if you need too. It will hit the boot otherwise at higer speeds. You can also JB Weld the bolt in place. At this stage it's purely a mechanical backup. Very nicely done. Mind if I copy the pictures into my install thread?

I agree. Aren't those pics super? I've read a few write ups on this as well.

Thanks for the comments. It would make me feel all warm and fuzzy if you used some of these pics for the install thread. At least I would have contributed something to this site after lurking around unnoticed.
As far as the washer, it really isn't that close to the boot so I left it on. I could even take a picture of that.

You have to consider the boot will swell at speed. Looks fine now but at 100mph it will be closer. My goal is to get the bolt as far away from the boot as possible. The washer brings it closer but it also has sharp edges.

Would that boot really swell over 7/8" on either side around 5K rpm (100mph approx.)? I just put in the JWT S1 cams and I'm starting to get it higher and higher to the rev limiter.

Speed causes the swelling, not rpm. It's just a educated guess how much it might swell. I have seen boots that do contact the lower parts of Koni installs DONE WRONG (didn't cut the koni enough). Yours is not nearly that long. I am of the opinion that you give the entire boot as much room as possible. If your bolt is JB Welded in place now then it's too late. I would watch for any contact especially after track events. Otherwise, remove the wave washer if you can when you get a chance just to be safe.

Well, I don't see any track events in the near future but if I do, I'll keep that in mind. The bolt is not actually JB'd in place, so I do have the option of removing the washer if necessary. Thanks for lookin out for me. Let me know if you nee full size pics to update the how to thread.

I just posted a link to this thread. As long as you keep your pictures up and running it's great.

I'll be getting the Koni yellows soon for my Sentra N16 (US B15) coupled with Progress Auto lower springs. Will definitely follow this set-up process.
