i have heard some bad things about megan racing (mostly about there exhausts) but i was wondering does anyone have any problems with there sus pieces ie strut tower braces or tie bars? if so are there any companys that have better quality pieces at the same or near the same price? im not really looking for a list of companys but i was more worried about the quality of there sus pieces. if it makes a difference the parts are for a '91 240sx

DONT! megan racing coiovers are ok until you ride in some good quality sh*t(had them before). and the strut tower braces are just for looks, just get you a front cusco one for $150 and a rear one for $150. well worth the money, those are actually functional.

back when i was working at fast1 motorsports up here in WA, we built an ae86 with nothing but megan racing suspension parts. it rode great. i think just as good as the jic magics my friend has, or the d2's i just helped a friend put on. plus, the people at megan are super chill to work with. and the prices are hard to beat.
i think megan has a bad rep because of car gossip, which we all do. but i love their parts. if i upgrade coilovers im going with some megan street's

What's wrong with a nice set of Koni yellows and some GC hardware. Adjustability and a real damper (koni) that does the job and not make the suspension feel 10X stiffer than it should. Just a thought...
This coming from someone that has driven quite a few setups (D2's are garbage on a 240) and have found happiness in my Koni setup .
Megan's are generic garbage, just as D2 is. The suspension arms are thin walled and typically poorly welded. JIC is built with better materials, but not much better in the ride dept.
I'm sorry I didn't copy everyone else's setup. If you need a preacher to tell you what mods to put on your car, the Reverend Veilside180sx might have a suggestion.

I understand the CSK comments, but if you are on a budget, and need a solution for a worn out suspension, I don't think the Megans are all that bad. Ya, they are stiff as all get out, but for the money, I have been pleased. The guys on the 240 boards have been happy too.
I guess it's all in what you plan to do with it. I know a guy who ran Ksports in a race car and won a lot of races and is fast. Some say Ksports are junk too, but the proof is in the results.
If you like the megans, go for it. I got mine from underground motorsports. Good guy, good price.

I'm guessing you are talking about Brady Doehrty as the "racer". I view Brady about like Tom Paule...he could drive a table around the track. That doesn't mean he wouldn't be faster on a real set of dampers.
Most people on 240 boards are sheep, and follow what everyone else says. They are only concerned with style, and assume that the craptastic ride quality is normal...and cool. I'm a member of almost every decently sized 240 board, so I've read plenty of the sheepish following. (FA, Zilvia, Nico, NWN, RWD, 240SXforums, SXOC, etc)
It's your money though, so purchase what you want.

Nope, don't even know who Brady Doehrty is, sorry.
I have the megans on my B14, that is in the process of going from SSC to ITA. I am doing the development myself in stages as I can afford to, with hopes of attending drivers school in the spring.
With only about 60% of the suspension converted (megans, RSB and FSB), and not being a Brady Doehrty, I am running mid pack lap times, and the car/suspension isn't the limiting factor, it's the loose nut behind the wheel. After going with higher spring rates in the rear, and polly bushings over the winter, I fully expect to cut the difference in half, and be running within 2-3 seconds of the leaders.
Sure, I may be able to go faster with Koni's, and the uber setup, but I choose to convert what I saved on the suspension into track time, and track time sir is the best mod you can make to your car.
Of course, I wouldn't run these shocks on the street because the spring rates are flat too stiff for me. For the track however, they are working fine, and a roughly half the cost of CSK's with camber plates, and GC's.
