Koni Coilover Setup Help

After searching and reading for the last 3 hours, my head is spinning and none of it is making sense to me.

After reading Shawn B's suspension thread

And many other threads its come down to the Koni coilovers. After a glance at their website I dunno wtf I need.

I want a Koni Coilover setup that will allow me, if possible, to lower my car 1-2", meanwhile maintain good handling for DD, canyon driving, and potential autocross for recreation.

I drive a NX

Quote:
I can make them a variety of different ways. The breakdown is as follows. Remember this is custom work so I can do it a variety of ways. This also assumes you send me your usable stock housings.

Koni's (adjustable, but you need to take them off to do it) = $535
Install them shorter in the front= $75 (this is it for the b14)
Install all 4 into housing for the b13 housings = $125
Shorter all the way around = 150 (not needed on the b13, not possible on the b14)
Add, externally adjustable Fronts on either car = $85 extra for the pair. This allows the use of strong front springs as well. 350lb to 375lb should be ok.
Custom Mounts for GC perch (allow the use of a 10 inch front spring) = $75 per axle. Only needed up front.

So if you have a b13 and you want shorter fronts and standard rears (535+125) and you also want the externally adjustable fronts ($85) plus the custom mounts for the longer spring up front only ($75). This puts you at $820 for my work (plus shipping) and then you provide the GC setup (400 at the most). This setup is far nicer then the TEIN in ride. Plus, you can add the GC camber caster plates which give you another 3/4 inch of travel up front. A lot of people already own this GC stuff so it saves them money. Hope that helps.
After reading that, I get the general Idea of what I want. But I don't know what exact parts I need...

Help is appreciated.

what you getting for $1220 is a baller suspension setup. most people call them CSK (custom shortened koni's)

you take expensive struts, have them hacked up and glued back together, then add ground control coilover sleeves ontop of your hermaphrodite struts.

its the "proper" way to lower the b series chassis.

personally i think its too much money

ooo, and you get ride height and dampening for 1220. then for like an extra 350 you get camber plates

so for baller CSK's with ride height, dampening, and camber adjustment: 1570

or you can find some megans, ksports, or d2's (maybe) for like 800 and have people rag on you about how your suspension sucks (even though must have never owned the products, its just "what they hear")

or you can find some teins for about 1100 and have people tell you that your suspension is poor compared to CSK's.....

ooo, and they will also tell you that your axles will wear out faster along with other things, and that your "suspension geometry is off"

granted they are correct, but is it really THAT BIG of a deal??

its up too you lol

^^^ having a bad day already?!? Also, not sure where you post is coming from/or going since he's not asking for advice on what suspension to go with, but rather clarification on what he needs to order for a CSK setup.

Last I heard Steve wasn't making CSK's right now. I believe that's who that quote came from.

Steve wasn't performing some magic trick (not insulting Steve here), this is something that can be done in the garage with basic tools (hacksaw, drill, file, and some commonsense).

this does take alittle more time and patience then just say slapping on a generic coilover setup, but the end result is a ride that you're going to enjoy for a long time to come.

For someone that wants instant gratification, a slammed ride, and not give a damn about the ride comfort of the car, then just get the cheap D2's or Ksports...

Karuza - have you read through Steve's thread on Koni suspesion. It is large, but should cover most of your questions...

This only comes from people that aren't willing to purchase or try something that works correctly.

Bitter much?

Koni Spec V (REAR)
Koni Spec V (FRONT)
Ground Control Coilovers w/ 350/300 8" Springs

Anything else I might need? Besides the modification of the Konis.

I can't decide whether 8" or 10" would be better for springs?

Sorry if this has been repeated.
