Steering slop removal

I noticed that I can move my steering wheel almost 3/4 of a inch before the wheels react in turning. Is there a way to eliminate that slack in the steering wheel so that it may operate with crisp responsive steering? I drive a B14.

You could start with new tie rods, ball joints and fresh power steering fluid. I had this issue as well and ended up taking out my power steering.

Did that fix the problem? There has to be something in there where you can adjust the free play.

Removing the power steering did fix the problem but I don't recommend it for a daily driver (mine is not). There may have been a cheaper fix to my problem but I threw so much money at it I just gave up. I even put in a new power steering pump. It may have something to do with the seals inside the rack but that would require removing the motor and dissecting the rack. I plan on doing this once my NX (daily) is available to drive every day. This is what I plan on doing....the rack is from an RX7

The rack was constantly leaking and I eventually had to replace the high pressure line. It didn't fix my problem and replacing the pump, inner and outer tie rods and ball joints only marginally sharpened the steering. You may want to check your bearings as well.
