B14 SE-R Rear Disk (no abs)

So I changed out my rear pads and rotors on my 95 SE-R, everything went cool took about 20 mins per side. Got on the road to test out the install and the car stopped just fine. Next thing I know there is white smoke billowing out of the rear passenger side caliper (burning pads).
Everything installs just fine when i retorque the bracket to the hub it all lines up just fine, however, once I straighten up the rotor to be flush with the hub it starts to rub the pads. I had compressed the piston with the OE tool back as far as I could into the caliper and it installed just fine (good clearance). Its only rubbing on one part of the disk, near the outside of the disk.
This is very frustrating and I am tempted to just burn the pads down to size until I can figure out WTF! is going on.
Any constructive input would be awesome. thanks
c

You have the pad and the piston lined up, right? There is a tab on the back of the pad that fits into a groove on the piston.

yup everything is lined up perfect, i moved everything into every conceivable position yet no go..very, very frustrating.

edit: Drivers side is just perfect..tire wear on the offending side is no worse than any of the other meats. So a damaged hub is not the culprit (no griding or wobbling).

make sure the rotor is flat against the hub. I was sent a rotor before that didn't sit flush against it.

Have you tried removing the wheel and turning the hub to see if anything moves? Now that I read the first post again, I'm wondering if you have the wrong rotors. A friend of mine got new rotors for his Miata, and the pads were too thick, so he measured the rotors, and one of them was thicker than the other. What about putting the old rotor back on and see if it rubs, or compare the new to the old, or even between each side.

Yup I tried that, it is the correct size, tried using the old rotor and it did the same thing. I am going to have another crack at it today once I get out of work. Now that I think about it the little tab on the back of the pad might be hitting the piston, I noticed a small indentation that I didnt put there when I tore it all down for the 30th time.

yup, i actually had that tab just barely touching the lip of the piston and was not completely into that stupid groove. I also over torqued those 2, 12mm bolts holding the caliper to the bracket. So i just corrected those problems and everything lined up..im such an idiot, noob fail. thanks for the help man.
