I didn't mean to criticize your experience, it was just a general question about the "basic engineering" of the Progress LCAB. Everything is a compromise, I was curious why Progress chose those particular compromises.

I agree Bruce, the N-tech braces was very beefy. It mounted in front of the LCA, and tied to the center support with U bolts.

I have a brace like that either Neuspeed or something IDK on my second B13. It uses U-bolts, it's red and despite excellent Shigspeed CO's with DA Koni Yellow Race, a Progress Front Sway, ES LCA bushing and steering rack bushings, it's not quite as dialed as my SCC B13. Both cars have recently had their alignments updated painstakingly to the same race alignment except I run a little less camber on #2 car. The level of precision in the steering of my SCC B13 is remarkable as everyone who has ever driven it has commented. The second car is close but not as good despite arguably superior dampers. Both run GC plates with the same tapered bearing and pillow mounts.

Bruce, no offense taken just trying to say whoa, I hit an f'ing equivalent of a hefalump and my bar didn't break or bend, just lost some paint. Also updating my point with use of the Kartboys on the cat hanger, best $36 spent on the hole NVH DP issue.

Rear vs. front mount - look at your LCA carefully and think about where the BIGGEST pivot load exists, that's where you want your brace. Unless you drive exclusively in reverse, that is not the front of the LCA pivot. Look at where the OEM material is most reinforced - it's not in front.

As for the Progress center mount, it is perceived as an advantage to the point where if you want to run SCCA STS/STX you have to cut it off, it's not legal. Think about that when you're considering whether it's the right kind of mount. When Progress designed their center section they made it STRONG and functional.

Also you cannot compare favorably the solidity of U-bolts over a spar to a welded piece of stock steel that runs 90 deg in resistance to flex of the main forces applied to it, and bolts into the chassis of your car. Notice how it also slots around the end of the spar, it's really a good design. U-bolts are convenient, but they can slip, they move and flex, they are not really attached to anything other than by friction. I would compare U-bolts to using a really nice Vise-Grip tool vs. a box end wrench for solid connection. Both work but which one would you rather have? Center mounts like the Progress do not move at their point of attachment.

Also accepting that you will not eliminate but rather minimize flex, it's a good idea to have the joints Progress uses on the bar end.

If you don't run over Hefalumps the Progress stuff holds up outstandingly well. Beside it's former owner I've done some truly mean things to that car and it takes it like a champ.
