Big brake wheel fitment question. *pic*

So I recently bought the Wilwood 11.75" kit with the 4 piston superlite calipers. I have Tein basic coilovers with 16x7, +42 offset, Gram light 57s wheels. The inside diameter of the 16" wheel clears the caliper fine, just the spoke design and offset is the problem im having, the spokes are contacting the caliper.
Wheel spacers are out of the question, it would need a hefty spacer to make these wheels work, thus I am selling the wheels and getting new ones.

My question is,
Does anyone know of some wheels in the 16" or 17" size that are known for having a good spoke design and offset that provides a lot of caliper clearance?

I don't want an extremely aggressive offset that will make the wheels look as if they are sticking out excessivly from the fenders..

Any thoughts or opinions are greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Im thinking the 16" 5Zigen FN01RC +33 offset might work.. Check the web page here.. The spoke design looks promising.. I hope.. What do you guys think?

A friend of mine is using those wheels on his Spec V with the 12.25 Fastbrakes kit, and they clear just fine. He's using a 17" wheel.

The FN01R-C's fit over my Z32 calipers with lots of clearance to the spokes. Also my friend uses them on his STI with Stoptechs, which are huge calipers.

Another option is the Enkei NT03-M, they clear big brakes on most cars and to much more than the FN01R-C.

Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 15x7 wheels also fit over Wilwoods 11.75" kit. I have a set which will be for sale soon if anyone is interested.

Those require a spacer for them to fit.

Nope.. is on Turbo91ser´s car, no spacer used. I may buy his brakes only if they fit under my Rota´s...

You may be able to find a full set of 17" rays for the Spec V NIB on eBay for $600, some vendor has been periodically selling a set. I see them pop up about once a month on average, and those are some very nice 5-spoke Rays that clear Brembo 4-pots. There's a large NISMO store in CA that often runs specials on these, too, I forget the name but they have an online eBay store.

Don't know what you are looking for in spoke design but the Motegi Traklites have plenty of clearance, come in gunmetal or black, and are very light (10 lbs a wheel in 15") and hold up very well for normal usage (3 years on mine road and track, not a problem). Not sure they do 16's but def 15 and 17". Downside is in 15" they run $900 a set MSRP, more for 17's and used, good luck as I have never seen a pair for sale used.

Looked at the Enkei RFP1'S recently if you're looking for more of a twin-spoke design, again very light and well made wheel, a little less than Traklites (100% forged vs. RFP1's use a hybrid casting technique, still very strong). Outboard spoke design provides plenty of clearance.

So I took some measurements and lots of pics the other day to help get things rolling.. . Here we go..

^^ distance from the center of the hub to the outter most part of the caliper.

^^ distance from the mounting face of the rotor to the caliper.

^^ these are my spare wheels I have laying around. That don't fit.

^^ size of the test fit wheel.

^^ with about 20mm boost, they start to clear the caliper. (JUST BARELY)

^^ what clearance im workin with about 20mm of a spacer. (I need new wheels.. This spoke design isn't working.)

^^ but ohhhh soo sexy..

If you can't read the measurements I edited into the three pictures.. Hopefully you can blow them up a bit to get a closer look.

Anyways.. Im hoping a low 30mm offset on a set of 16" or 17" wheels, with favorable spoke designs will get me rolling with these new brakes..
I do like the enkei wheel mentioned above.. Also the work emotion cr kai.. 5zigen FN01R-C.. volks are nice, but pricy lol..
But again, im open to any suggestions or experiences anyone has had with aftermarket wheels. So what do ya think?

Thanks a lot!
-neil

PS- these Gram lights are now for sale.. They are in awesome shape, just a bit dusty.
