subframe connectors

hey guys

been working on some subframe connectors

these attach at the rear front control arm bushing mount and along the "rail" at 3 places, and at the rear transverse link mount. 5 points, 1 about every foot and a half, all using factory holes and mounting points. no welding required. the only cutting is a notch in the bushing plate.

let me know what you think

thanks
-chuck

Definitely interested in this. Would this interfere with my progress LCA brace?

no comparison

these mount at front and rear suspension pickup points as well as along the inboard frame rail. these are compleatly bolt in, no drilling or welding required.

i will be building in provisions for crossbracing and rollbar mounting pads.

thanks

What do you mean "provisions" for crossbracing? I really don't know squat but I would think that if they were connected left to right it would really help tame the flex in that area.

what i have in mind is a do-luck inspired bar across the rear passenger floor tying into the lower seat belt mount and bolting through the floor to a rollbar pad welded to the subframe connectors.

this will form a box with the subframe connectors being the sides, the front subframe being the top and the "do-luck" bar being the bottom.

eventually i will build a middle section if needed, possibly like the miata butterfly bar.

thanks

at this point it is more of a design study.

i doubt a small production run could be done for less than $300 a set

Chuck, I am very interested. I'm trying to get my Classic chassis to stiff-as-a-titanium-I-beam.

I love my 3-point RSTB.

Unless you object, I am going to post this "interest thread" over to the Dash. Some folks do not cross back and forth between the forums.

Very interested sir, I will be watching the expected cost closely as this is up there in what I will be able to afford on the fly.

I like all of your ideas so far, provisions (brackets) incorporated into the bars for cross-bracing would be perfect as I am capable of creating cross braces fairly easily.

When you get an opportunity, I am "over there" debating with some presumptive and premature critics.

It is not nasty or anything, very cordial and civilized debate/discussion.

I *think* I have it handled, but would love your personal input Chuck.

I'm interested as well, also the cross bracing stuff sounds good to me as well I do 4 HPDE's a year and this can only help my cause. I also have a Progress LCA as mentioned above by a member just if this makes a difference on the crossbracing stuff so not to interfere. I imagine they'll be coated as everything you've done so far. I already own one of your RSTB's and absolutely love the quality of it.

Thanks Shawn for posting this on the "other" forum as I would never have seen this thread!
