HELP!

Today as I was driving back home from school, my speedometer just so happened to conveniently stop working and I was wondering if anyone knew if my car has a cable or if it has a sensor on the tranny controlling the speedometer. I have a 1991 b13.

i figured out its run with a cable, but can someone tell me how to take the dash off in order to access the cable. i tried to remove it today and got the front cover for the meters off along with the middle console but i wasn't able to pull the actual part with the meters on it out
