Tail light opinions?

So I finally installed my center light panel I got off a 94 SE-R onto my 92 SE. Pretty easy installation, just a lot of time with the dremel cutting the needed holes in the trunk lid.

I originally wanted to do a full 93-94 conversion (center panel and tail lights) but I sorta like my 92 lights better (simpler, no split in the turn signal). Unfortunately, the 92 tails don't match up perfectly with the 93-94 center panel. Well enough from a distance, but you can sorta see the mis-match up close. Not sure what I want to do. I suppose leaving it like this makes it unique. Aren't there a set of Tsuru tails that have red turn signals? That would probably be ideal.

Thanks for any feedback

Looks good. The newer model Tsuru's came with all red tails. I think with your car being while, the Tsuru tails would look very nice! JMO though.

yeah, I see that the newest Tsuru's have all red tails (with a white backup light) but it also appears the trim on the edge is red instead of black. Damm. Guess I could paint the trim. I'm not a huge fan of the previous Tsuru tails with the large white turn signal, but it is better than split yellow.

I have the 93-94 Sentra tails in the garage, think I'll swap em in and see what I think of em for a while. Trying to think of something creative to cover/remove the yellow lens. I suppose I could cut out a large piece of red lens from a 91-92 light and use it to cover up the yellow... who knows. Always up for a project.

The mismatch is due to your install, not the lights. I had '93-'94 center lights on my '91, and they lined up perfect.

perhaps, considering I had to drill and cut my SE trunk. Obviously your SE-R trunk already had all the holes so you just had to drop it in. I used the edge of the trunk above the center lights as a guide, and it seems nice and straight. Whatever, definitely looks better than no center lights and black faded flat paint.

If you can go to the trouble of making them kinda-sorta work, then you can need to go the extra mile and make it right. That misalignment jumps right out at you.

yeah, I'll see what I can do. I had limited time to work on it the day I installed em, so I didn't do much tweak work. Plus I want to get in there with a sealer of some sort to make sure I don't get water in the trunk or trapped water to cause rust. Hopefully I can shift it up a bit, we'll see. I hope the SE trunk isn't just shaped differently than the SE-R trunk, but if it is, I will learn to live with it.

It does appear that I could possibly shift the entire panel up a few mm to improve the alignment... guess it depends on how bad I want it to happen. Grinding a few mm upwards on those large holes I had to cut doesn't sound like much fun.

So I installed the 94 tails last night. I'm still not huge on the split yellow turn signal, but I think overall it looks a bit better. Actually lines up with the center panel lights a lot better. The bottom edge that looks really mis-aligned is actually the black paint that is on the trunk. I took a real good look at the center panel from the side while the trunk was open, seems perfectly lined up with the lines of the trunk.

anyone need some 91-92 tails?
