Have a problem!

Hello, my car will not go into gear and the shifter seems to move around with no boundaries?! Each gear has its place to shift too, but it seems as if there are no gears. I am able to move around in a full circles as if there is nothing around the shifter?? Any ideas on whats wrong?!?! Shift linkage??

By the way, before this problem occured, i drove the car and grinded in 5th gear just a little bit and i heard something underneath the car fall off. Any suggestions?

Yep.

The shifter arm disconnected somewhere. The prime suspect is the vertical bolt that connects the shifter arm to the bracket on the back of the transmission. One time I found the nut was loose on my car.

Thanks for the quick response! Would this be considered a big problem, because i need my car asap. By the way is this bolt hard to find?

Maybe that bolt was not tightened up when i changed my clutch couple weeks back.

Yep the bolt was probally over looked and not tightened.Any bolt and nut,the right length will work.A plastic lined nut will be best.
