Which wheels should I get?

My front end is 1.2'' lowered with Eibach springs and rear end is stock.
I want to buy wite rota wheels (16 x 8.0 +20 4h x 100) from here http://www.rotawheels.com/slipstream.php

but I am suspicious whether I can use +20 offset?

I will probably go with yokohama prada 205/40/16 tires.

do you think that 17s with 215/35/17 tires look better on b13?

An 8" wide wheel in a +20 offset is going to stick out over 1/2" from the side of the car... to keep the wheels from smacking the fenders your going to have to run within 1/2" of factory height and have suspension stiff enough that you ain't going to want to drive the car daily.

The 17's with that tire size will ride like sh*t also... have you priced out tires in that size... I assume your talking about a 215/35/17...

Have you considered a 15x7 wheel with 205/50/15's or even 225/45/15's? Less cost, less unsprung weight, lots of wheel/tire choices.

Ok, If I go with 16'' rims, what is the lowest offeset that I can use without rubing the edges of fenders? Ideally I want 1mm of space between the inner edge of my fender and wheel. Maybe I sould get rota splitsream 16x8 +48 and buy some custom wheel spacers to fill up the gap.

these are the tires I was refering to. They are available in 205/40/16:

For a 16X8" wheel, you would need to run a 20-25mm offset, any higher and you are physically touching the struts in the rear.

You could run a 16x7.5" wheel with a 37mm offset and run 5mm spacers in the rear to keep the wheels from hitting the struts... that's what I am currently doing for the winter wheels. The problem is that there are very few options for tire/tire sizes in a 16" wheel.

I already found the 16'' tires that I want, so the luck of choice is not a problem : )

Is it a good idea to buy 16X7 for front and 16X8 for rear? I really want to see those lightweight Rota Splitsteam on my car? can anyone point out which set of rims form this list should I get? I want the rims as close to fender as possible and as wide as possible for the rear end.

16 x 6.5 +40/+45 4h x 100
16 x 7.0 +40/+45/+48 4h x 100
16 x 8.0 +48 4h x 100
16 x 8.0 +20 4h x 100

Your front is not the issue, you have plenty of room up there, it's your back that is tight.

What suspension and how low do you plan having you car? Have you rolled and pulled the rear fenders yet, these are all factors on how wide of a wheel/tire you can run.

I think you need to start reading a bit more about what fits and what doesn't on a B13 chassis. Start in the thread below and skip all the stuff in regards to the B14 chassis... they are blessed with ample room in the rear for wheels/tires

You have lowering springs in the Front and STOCK springs in the rear????

Now you want to run 7" wheels up front and 8" wheels in the back?

Do you know ANYTHING about handling?

For ultimate lightness, you might try some skinnies in front. Weld makes some 15x3.5" forged alloys in 4x100:

Then you could get some matching 15x10's to go in back and look really hot:

hahahahah lol...

the reason I waned to go with wider rear tire is because my car oversteers a lot after I installed 1&1/4 sway bar on the rear end.

I think what he had in mind were more to the staggered rwd look and not in handling. I had a similar set up and for street, you would hardly notice a difference until a few freeway highspeed turns where the UNDERSTEER set up really took in effect. I went away from the stagger set up because it was more economical to be able to rotate your wheels for me. In anyrate, to each his own. For looks i don't think the stagger look isnt all that bad.

Then go get an alignment and ask for more toe-in on the front of the car... that'll take care of the oversteer condition.

Also, what is so wrong with keeping the rear end stock? my next updadate is going to be reinstalation of OEM rear swaybar. The car was super balanced and predictable back then... I could skid sideways on any corner evenly without doing much of sttering correction and catching my rear end.

the point is OEM suspesion + low prifile tires is the best setup. Of course you can impve it but it is not something easy and trivial + it will cost you 3X more than an average B13 itself to get everyting right.

You are absolutely right.. stock set up with low profile tires is best.

I bow to your expertise. The people posting in this thread do not know what the hell we are talking about.

Enjoy your car while you can.

YES, Soft EOM suspention with low profiles is THE WAY to do speeding on a city road. Day to day I meet people with stiff suspesions and I laugh very hard while they bounce on the road bumps.

After all, the B13 is f*cking FWD car and there is no point of trying to make a candy out of crap. The only update that I am going to do to B13 in the near future is cutting all of the flors and installing OEM BMW motor/tranny/suspesion. This way I can f*ck anyone down the road.
