how smart are you reg. lights not working.

my instruments lights sometimes go off. to get them on I have to turn on the headlights off and on rapidly for about 10-20 times. Finnally they will work. The running lights on the rear do not work when the instument lights do not work.

anybody have any sugestions.

My car's headlights used to go on only by themselves. I would not have any instrument lights or taillights. It turned out to be my main fusible link. Does your tach still work when this happens? This is just one of my guesses.
