check your battery while the alternator is getting changed too.

Well that sucks as I have exactly the same problem. The flickering is just as described and started less than a month ago.

Since my battery is in the trunk I checked all the cables, made sure I had good ground up front, too, including MAF ground (which cleared up my idle issue last month).

Now I get this flickering which tends to go away (or not happen) under acceleration, happens mostly when backing off the throttle. I rechecked all the ground wires, the battery is pretty new (this year anyway), and the cables from the trunk appear to be in very good shape. It's all clean w/o rust anywhere and the cable insultator is like new.

Alternator makes sense, as the flicker also can be seen in the dome light when parked at idle; if I rev the engine just a little the dome light flickering stops. However when driving the car, the 2 dash lights (Brake and Battery) flicker when the engine could be at 5000 rpm backing off to 4000. I thought maybe the combo of UD pulleys and trunk battery was messing with me, but it was set up that way for a long time and works fine.

When I had the so-so ground last month turning on lights, stereo, radar detector messed with the idle - car would start to stumble at idle a bit when I put extra load with Acc's on it. Sounds like maybe the alternator is getting tempermental.

Thanks, hadn't really thought to look there since I have put 5k miles on the car since buying it running all kinds of juice to cell phone, radar detector, lights, etc. and I just figured usually when an alternator goes bad, it does not give you a month's warning. I'll check it out...
