I know Taiden is also interested in this, as he is currently doing an XE swap. I wonder how much fabrication is needed.
Edit, when we compared our two cars, the only major difference was the lock position.

on my xe, i got a gxe trunk from the junkyard. looks so much better with inner tails
doing it manually would involve too much work. save yourself the time and just buy the thing from the junkyard

I got a GXE trunk on my E too. Had to fudge it a bit to make it line up correctly and it still isn't perfect but it's better than stock. I'd say just get a whole trunk lid and swap the locks. repainting one is certainly easier than all that fabrication.
i did this to my first xe years ago. i was a pain in the ass to cut the holes just right so the lights aligned up, it was still off. then you have to make sure you get the extension for the lock, if not, you wont be able to unlock the trunk from the outside. my advise is to find an ser trunk. if you were in ky, my bro has one sittin in his backyard.

I plan on doing this in the spring. I already have the lights and would rather cut than swap trunks. Mainly because the Sentra's here in Canada never had inner lights on any model, and we didn't get the SE-R's. I didn't want to pay shipping on an entire trunk and would rather not have a spoiler. I am still deciding on what to do with the trunk lock. Either fab up a interior release (from my old Summit or another Sentra) or get a remote popper and forget about the lock all together. I know when my mother inlaw owned the car the trunk lock got f#ck'd up and the CAA guy (AAA in US) removed the rear seat and openned it up through there, so if I hav a problem I could still manage to get in.
The lock cylinders are different between cars with inner tails and those without.
I mean you'd have to pry off the "cap" and actually swap inards (but careful with the pins). I've done this with mine and I had no idea what I was doing, I just figured it out as I went along. My original key works perfect. This thread should give you an idea of how to do it http://www.sr20forum.com/showthread....ighlight=trunk . It's really simple. What, is everybody else just using seperate keys?

Dude, GXEs have inner tails AND no spoiler. I've seen a few GXEs in my local yard. And did you know you could retro fit an OEM trunk release? Grab the cable from a 2 door XE and install it in yours. You'll be pleasantly surprised to find that Nissan conveniently left ALL the mounting points intact under the carpeting.
I cut my SE trunk to install SE-R center lights. LOTS of cutting and broken dremel wheels to make it happen, but it came out good. Installing the lock extension is pretty easy too, if you have your existing lock and an SE-R lock to swap cylinders. Mine lined up pretty good, might be off by a tiny bit, but worked out good. All the b13's in my local yards are pretty rusty, so I was happy to modify my rust-free trunk (car came from North Carolina).
I went from this:
to this:
Good luck with yours!

sadly, no. I just made some approximate marks on my lid, started cutting, got the large holes finished, then lined up the panel to mark where I needed bolt holes. Making your bolt holes (or all of them actually) a little large so you can adjust the alignment helped.
As I was doing the project, and it was turning out nicely, I did say to myself "I should take some pics and do a writeup." However, I figured most people that actually care about b13's already have an SE-R, so I didn't bother. Guess I should have known there are some other people rockin' the GA16 besides me.
Man it felt good to drive my car again yesterday, even if it was only for a mile and I thought I was about to blow my engine due to the stuck throttle cable. Ah well, the minivan got me to work, again...
I've never seen any Sentra's here with the inner lights. I guess Winnipegers are to cheap to move up to a GXE.
That's too bad. Not counting the one I got my trunk off of, I've seen at least four junked and quite a few on the road. Maybe you should make a road trip . If you happen to find one of the same year as yours (91,92 or 93,94) you should also get the instrument cluster for a cluster swap.
