after putting a new clutch in....got a problem

so i finished my clutch job last night & i decided to take it around the block to see how it feels. I grabs very good (ACT XPP SS) i noticed when going from 1st to 2nd the clutch kind jerked around & i kinda had to force it into 2nd. My friend helping me told me one of my motor mounts (most likely my rear) wasnt tight enough & another friend told me the shift linkage might not be tight enough or on wrong some how. Any idea on what it could be??

ACT recommends you take it easy on the clutch for 500mi, but i took it out again when i got home & realized that when ever i step on the gas the shifter pops out of gear. only when i let off the gas it stays in. I checked the clutch cabl & it was stethed. could it be the clutch cable?
