Hood closing issues...

Ever since I had a fender bender with a guard rail my hood doesn't shut perfectly. I have a brand new OEM fender on the driver side. Just installed a new hood this weekend. The hood shuts but its not a snug hold. It flops up and down while on the freeway which scares the sh*t out of me. I don't feel like going with hood pins just yet either. Is there something that could have made the hood latch loose? I want to get this taken car of. Anyone had an issue like this?

when the hood is closed, can u jiggle it up and down? mine is barely off, if it is even off at all. when the car is on, the engine vibrates the hood, and makes a loud annoying hood vibrating sound. but if i push down or pull up on the hood, the sounds stops. the reason for the vibration is that i need new rubber stoppers on the front corners of the hood. mine are dried up and cannot be raised or lower without it breaking off...

Easy fix cats...Two thing to do is;

1. There is 3x12mm bolt holding the locking mechanism, loosen 'em. You would see that the whole thing is adjustable. Might have to tap it with something to make it move up or down. Play with it a bit to get it just right.

2. Or/and adjust the rubber bumps at the ends up or down as needed. If they are dry rotted, junk yard is your friend. They do not have to come from a Sentra, experimentation with other cars rubber bumps would also do.

The hood is veryyy loose and has about an inch of free play up and down. Looks as if the hood is propped open and that its only held on by the lever. It used to sit tight and I had the rubber things adjusted right but ever since I hit the guard rail and it moved my old hood a little, it never shut nice and tight. Maybe I will try out the 3 screws and see if that helps.

Well I was outside installing a custom heat shield and decided to play with this. I took off the grill and I find the one bar that connect to the middle bolt is completely off, was torn out of place from the impact I guess. I also noticed the bottom bolt was out of place under the bumper cover. Does anyone have a close up picture as to how this area should look?

Yea if that bracket that hold the latch is not bolted tight your latch will move out of postion from where it has to be and the hood wont latch tight.There is a bar that runs from the bottom radiator support and bolts to the latch,check that good.

Tighten the top one and it helped a little. Had the car on jacks when doing my brakes, look under the front and I see the bottom screw was no where near the beam that supports it. I will have to get underneath it tomorrow and try to pull it down and tighten it. Hopefully this will help keep the hood shut tight.
