+1 vs +2: The 15" vs the 16" Debate

Hey everyone,

I'm hoping you can weigh in here. I'm looking for rims and tires for the 94 Classic and am trying to figure out if I want to 15" or 16". I might do a big brake upgrade, might not. Cost is a concern. As is unsprung weight. I don't want to be blingy. And I don't want to have to deal with a lot of cleaning or fear of losing to theft.

I'm leaning towards some plain matte black Konig Heliums, or Rota Slips, or, if I can score a dealio, some Motegi TrakLites! (drool). What I'm wondering is what would you go with? 15's? Or 16's?

For tires, I'm leaning towards Kumho's. Being in So Cal, I don't have to worry about snow.

Thoughts? Any suggestions? Any dealios you know of?

Talk to me!

I have a set of Kosei K1s and and a set of ATS Comp Lites both in 15" sizes and I think they both look awesome on a classic. They are only available on the used market these days though. If I were buying new wheels today I'd get 6ULs. http://www.949racing.com/index.asp?P...ATS&Category=2

Sweet! Thanks Mr. SpecWired. It's pretty buried and I just wanted to create a debate here for prevailing thought. Also to see who's got something tucked away in the back of their garage they might have forgotten about.

So, I know about that stuff. And search often. But wanted to start a fresh thread.

the ONLY way you will be able to get a lite wheel for a cheap price is by getting smaller wheels..........................

with that said any 15 inch will be liter than the 16" in the same style...............and the 16" will be more expencive. however both sizes look great on a classic.

Stolen, stolen, and definitely stolen.

You have a garage? Park on the street at night? Work in crap area of town? Live in a theft-prone area?

You already know what wheels I would recommend.

Awwww....where's yer sense of adventure???

Actually, I live in a very safe neighborhood. Drive only two miles to work with heavy security. And because it's a Nissan, I get preferential AND valet parking at work!

i've got 16's and a little bit of a lower profile tire and i think they look great. 15's with a little more tire look awesome too. I personally wouldn't be able to tell a difference performance-wise between a 15" and a 16" wheel i think.

in the end it's a matter of personal preference and the intended use of the car.

jlbmotorsports.com is where i have gotten 2 sets of wheels.
