Window Regulator Issue ??

Hey guys,

When I goto roll up my passenger window the window tends to cock towards the front and its really hard to roll up. So I have to hold the the window down in the back right corner to keep it straight and then it rolls straight up.

So my questions are

  1. If it is, Is it easy or a PITA to replace?
  2. Is this a faulty window regulator, Id like to know before I spend $
Thanks in advance!

Daryl,

I don't think its the regulator. I would lean more towards the rubber/plastic channels that hold it in place. If you run a search on the forum about when Serban installed power windows in his classic, he had to replace those to get the window to power closed straightly. Oh, and FWIW, my SE-R is the same way lol

Im afraid my girlfriend is gonna break it one day rolling it up forgetting to hold the back down.

Im suprised the passenger one is in worse shape than my drivers side.

Daryl, it is no tthe channels either (unless they got mungled after it started happening)!!!!!

Mine does it too. Pick up an FSM and look in the Chassis section for Window Adjustment procedures.

Basically, on the bottom of the glass they have those "clamp" like "holders" that are screwed together and press the glass from both sides. They do not "hold" the bottom of the glass. In your case both of the but especially the front has come loose and the moment the glass sees friction from the rubber channel it "slips" downwards inside the front "clamp".

Most probably all you have to do is raise it all the way up, reach into the door and screw again the 2 "clamps". Unless there was some serious movement while it is in this condition you will not need to go through the adjustment procedures outlined in the FSM.

Awesome, I will look in the FSM I have it sitting right here. Yeah the only issue is that it tilts to the front while trying to roll it up. If i hold the back down so it cant tilt, It rolls up perfect!
