Honda Civic Short Shifter In A B13- It WORKS!!!

To start out NO it is not a direct replacement. It does require some Imagination, But it DOES work. So today I was outside Rummaging through my building looking for a can of bug killer I had in there and ran across A 93 civic shift linkage with a short shifter on it that I had forgot about. Since my B13s shifter had been Cutoff I decided I would try to put the civics shifter in my b13 so I could use a screw on knob again instead of one with pinch bolts. Well I gathered the civic linkage and the b13 linkage and of course my toolbox. What I figured out is my civic short shifter wasnt MUCH shorter( well longer physicly but shorter throw) than stock B13 but still Shorter none the less. Then the Civic one has a smaller bolt in the bottem. So what I had to do is take the plastic cups out of both shifters and put the b13 ones into the civic shifter, They were kinda loose so I wrapped a single layer of electrical tape around them then they fit perfectly. Then the "cup" type thing that the ball of the shifter rotates in is smaller on a b13 than a civic. So YOU MUST use a honda cup(luckily I had one.) And then the cup is slightly too short to fill up the metal bracket that bolts to the linkage, So you have to get creative to space it out. I cut some of the rubber off the old Cup thing and it worked like a charm. Took the car up the road to test and make sure everything was functioning proplery and it feels great. I love it. Not too short but short enough compared to stock to give a nice feel. I mean yes theres b13 shifters around but I just happened to have ALL the stuff I used to put it in. Overall If you can get your hands on a 88-00 civic/ integra short shifter for little or nothing Its well worth it in my opinion( Just be sure to get the cup thing for the ball on the shifter from a honda too). But I just thought I would share this with everyone.
