you may not wanna hear this, but someone told me that the ECU has to match the digital cluster.
Of course I argued. I believe all the sensors are the same, the wiring diagrams for the different cars are the same, I believe you will have no problems swapping in the cluster in... But I never had one out before.. A friend has one, I'll ask him if I can pull it and compare. I gotta junk cluster layin out..

1.91-92 B13 use a cable speed sensor
2.93-94 B13s use electronic
3.it doesnt matter what ECU you have. people have put these clusters into B14s with no problems

4.make sure that you get the right speed sensor. the speed sensor has to match the motor/trans combo that you have. so if your car is a 1.6 manual then youll need a electronic speed sensor from a NX1600 manual, if your car is a 2.0 manual then youll need an electronic speed sensor from an NX2000 manual. there like 40 bucks at autozone

5.on the back of the clusters it says where almost every wire goes. the plugs for the indicator lights are the easiest to change over. but there is a black plug in the middle of the NX cluster. this plug controls the gauges and tach. your going to need a wiring diagram for this plug because it doesnt say where any of the wires go.

6. on a scale of 1-10 this swap is 7 on the difficulty scale

Ok so what if I have a 91 b13 with the cable speedo and I want to use a 93 cluster with the electric speed sensor? Is that electric speed sensor plug on the 91/92 wire harness and just not used? Also, will the 93 cluster plug right into the 91 cluster harnesses and all I need to do is run a a direct plug for the electric speedo sensor?

it wont be plug and play because the wires are different, so you will have to rewire it, as for the speed sensor, if your car didnt come with an electronic speed sensor then the wires wont be there, my car is a 92 so I had to convert it to electronic, I did this with no wiring diagram so I just made my own harness for it. its only two wires. so I ran the wires from the sensor through the firewall to the right wires on the cluster

you cannot use a 93 digital cluster in a 91-92 car. the wiring isnt correct and to make it work you would need a fsm for both cars to match to what goes connected there.

it doesnt matter what speed sensor you use as long as its electronic. you can use a B14 speedo sensor, you can use a nx1600 speedo sensor.

some people say that if you get the digital cluster from an automatic car you need the automatic speed sensor from that car to match the cluster. i havent tried that since i have only used clusters that came from a stick and speed sensors that come from a stick.

so, if you got a 91-92 se-r/b13 you need a digital cluster from a 91-92 nx1600 and a electronic speedo sensor from any manual b13/b14.
(i know, i have used a b13 se-r speedo sensor, 1.6 nx1600 sensor and a b14 sensor and they are all correct and work just fine.)

if you have a 93-94 se-r/b13 you need a digital cluster from a 93 nx1600.
