A much smaller effect than bigger heavier wheels because
1. Its only a couple pounds.
2. Its closer to the center of rotation so it has a smaller effect than weight out where the rim would be.

Everything arrived this weekend and I installed the brakes on Monday. I had the SS brake lines already, the calipers arrived on Thursday (with the mounting brackets), and the rotors on Monday. Everything went together perfectly. I could NOT get the hubs off to properly remove the splash shields, so I just cut parts away.

The rotors were the cheap $30 Chinese econo rotors from Parts Warehouse. They look every bit as good as the Brembos I bought for my Eclipse last year.

On the street, I really can't tell a bit of difference performance wise. That must mean I had a very good working stock system. I'm sure performance on track will be improved

I calculated that I actually SAVED MONEY by doing this upgrade. Check it:
2 Loaded NX2000 calipers $80
4 NX2000 rotors $120
1 set of EBC redstuff for track $90
grand total of $290

If I kept the stock SE-R brakes:
Caliper rebuild kit (I melted dust boots at the last track event) ~$30
Street brake pads $50
Track pads from Porterfield $150
4 new SE-R rotors $150
grand total of $380

I upgraded my brakes and saved $90!!!!

I have pictures that I'll post when I get film developed this week.

MaddMatt, did you grind down the calipers yourself so the wheels would fit or did you take 'em to a machine shop?

p.s. Why don't you come up to the NASA autocrosses with the rest of "No Gum Racing"?

Pat, no I didn't grind them at all. I don't plan on using my stock wheels anymore. If I do, I'll buy some 5mm spcers. Interesting story, I got a good deal on some close-out 15" Mim wheels from Discount tire direct. I bought those and AVS intermediates for ~$400. Re-tiring my 14" wheels would have set me back ~$320. But now, I have better, lower profile tires for autocross, and a better selection of tires when these wear out. My track wheels are 14X6 AR 51s and clear with no problem.

Reasons I didn't go to the NASA-VA autocross last weekend.

1) My car was on jack stands awaiting the rotors to arrive.
2) I found out about it on Wednesday (too late to go because of reason #3)
3) A friend of mine scored tickets to the UNC-Marquette game on Saturday at 1:00.

If you guys had the autocross on SUNDAY like normal heathens, I would have probably been there driving Shultz's GSR, getting my ass kicked by either A)Karen in STS open, or B) Tim Aro et.al. in the Prokahna.

When are you guys back there? I'm having knee surgery for a torn ACL on 1/29, so the whole month of February is a loss

All wussy excuses. You coulda swiped Shawn Whipple's Type R (since he didn't go) and run the ProKhana on the super-soft G Stock PAX.

The VMP management made us switch that date to Saturday. It's weird packing up at 5 p.m. Saturday not having to worry about going to work the next day.

The next NASA autocross is Feb. 11. The regular autox season starts March 18. The NASA schedule is here.

You can call and see if they have any left. They had a bunch of wheels on sale, but they had only 5 wheels left of the ones I bought. They are called Mim Pescaras, and are dead ringers for Bortbet Type Ts. I think they had some that looked like the Type Hs that Jon Felton has on his SE-R. $60 IIRC. 195/50/15 AVSs are cheap, cheap, cheap at Tire Rack.

Feb 11, huh? I'll be on crutches

Dude,
The NX2K and SE-R have the same rear brakes. You can't put the front brakes on the rear. Just do the front.
