ok i have a 91 se-r and i have my ground controll coilovers sitting in my garage and im waiting for my kyb agx's ne day now. do i use my stock bumpstops or should i get some aftermarket ones like koni? ne of u guys have this setup, what do u prefer?
Stock bump stops are intergrate into the strut boots. This will not work with the GC's coilovers.
So your options are:
1) Koni bumpstops
2) Cut out stock bumpstops
3) Run with No bumpstops
4) Make your own bumpstops (out of the soul of an old sneakers, Koni's rubber feels like sneaker rubber)
When I ordered my Ground Controls, I ordered a set of "Ground Control" bumpstops as well. They are a urethane foam like most oem, but VERY firm. I think they were like $8 each - significantly cheaper than the Koni bumpstops. They fit perfectly on AGXs.
Oh, yeah, NEVER run with no bumpstops. The Sentra has so little suspension travel to begin with, you'll be bottoming out and blowing struts left and right.

Amazingly, that's not true.

I used the KYB boots w/ built in bumpstops (shorter bumpstop vs. stock) with the HypercoGen2 & AGX combo.
Got mine from tirerack.com, $10 each, about $50 shipped. They also have KYB mounts.

What kind of mounts are they? How are they different than stock?

1) Having or not having bumpstops won't negativley change how often your car bottoms out. That's a function of your spring rate, length, and ride height. In fact no bumpstops gains you suspension travel. What changes is what happens when your car bottoms out. Then it bites your butt. But this isn't the amazing part.
2) Amazingly, no bumpstops + AGXs do not equal blown struts left and right. AGXs are pretty durable buggers.

I held the stock strut mounts next to the KYB strut mounts - they looked pretty much identical. Only difference might be the grade/quality of rubber inside the mounts.
It probably wasn't necessary to replace the mounts, but as long as everything was apart, I figured I should.
I have the same combo going in soon---the new hyperco's and agx. I already ordered the boots w/ built in stops from the tire rack site--but which mounts do I buy for the front. The rear is only one number and I will get 2 of those--but they have 2 different part numbers listed for the front. Which do I need?
thanks!
Mark
