Stine

Whats up Stine?

I painted my cat heat shield last weekend. First I used a steel brush to knock loose any dirt, crap, etc... Then washed it, dryed it.
Then I used Plasti-kote high temp Aluminum color paint. Rated to 1500 deg. F. Sprayed it with two coats. First one was light. The only catch is, before 8 hours past after you spray it you must cure the paint by baking it in an oven at...I think it was 650 deg. F. for an hour. Or you could put it back on your car & drive around for an hour like I did. (well really it was more like 45min.) If you don't cure the paint it will rub off with mild pressure. So far so good amigo, it does not seem to be rubbing off. It looks damn good too, a whole lot better than it did.

later,

Forgot to mention, if anybody else plans on doing this DO NOT use your oven in your house. The paint releases fumes that can be harmful to you doing the curing process.

Thanks Bro!

I will DEFINITELY keep this in mind for the future - getting too cold here to think much about painting, but come spring it might be just the ticket...
