hyperco Gen2 install

hyperco w/ kyb agx the install went pretty smooth. I have to admit the car is tottally different. The car doesn't sit anymore it just goes. Yes it is a little more harsh then stock but its well worth it. Thanks again for everybody that was involved so we all could have theses springs.

Very cool. U just installed mine too, and threw on some B14 wheels. I thought I had Gen.1, but they were from the first run of Gen.2. I forgot. oops. Car handles so different its hard to approach its limits. I gotta get used to it.

Got any pics? Mine are on my homepage.

A little more harsh! Drive your car in WI in 0 degree weather over expansion joints and get your fillings rattled out. My ride was so stiff, I took my wife for a ride in it to try and induce labor when my son was 2 weeks late.
I love the setup, but is is stiff. On my car it's better on 3 in Front and 4 in the rear.

^Yeah dude, and my car definitely has the jitters over uneven roads. Of course it is in some ways softer than the blown out rig it replaced. Most people put this on they AGX over Koni choice from what i gather. Particularly up front. ES bushings to finish off those fillings.

little harsh

Compared to my old setup that had 130k on it. It feels a little harsher going slow over small bumps. yes it bounces more now but no more squatting when I shift and lane changes are a dream. it may be cold in WI but the traffic and roads here in SO CAL suck. I think this combo is daily driveable even in Los Angeles.

What bumpstops did you use?

I used koni's progressive soft

Im not sure what a pic is going to show you but it dropped the car an inch or so in the front and about 1 1/4 in the back.

The only thing I replaced were the thrust bearings up front. I can see how useful they or pillowball mounts would be in the rear. I trimmed stock bumpers a bit, and threw it back together. I made new dust boots for the rear with rubber gloves and duct tape. That ought to hold for a week or two.

^When I get Koni bumpers I'll do new ones, and maybe a few of the rubber rings. It actually looks kinda trick. Yellow gloves, under blue springs, and red shocks. Adds an extra .02g of grip.

I test fitted the springs/struts and realized you don't need a compressor to take this junk apart. That's when I just slapped that sh*t on the car. I'd waited long enough already.

Would you recommend these over the Ground Controls. I'm sorta in a dilema. Right now I'm on Proktis w/AGX- need I say more. I already have the rear ground-control setup and only need to acquire the fronts. However the cost of the front only isn't that much less than a set of new or slightly used GEN II hypercos. Not to mention all the work involved with installing the coilovers versus just throwing the springs on. What do you think. I need some direction here.

It all depends what the car is going to be used for. If it is going to be a daily driver I would go with the hypercoil if you can find a set. but if you are going to track it coilovers are never a bad idea. Im not sure how much of a difference prokits are since I have never rode in a classic or se-r with prokits.

Pro-kits are toe-up. Slap a tag on them. Some people will tell you they are ok. I've never had them on one of mine, but after one ride I knew they weren't for me.

i put my gen2's yesterday. i had some 2" drop sprint springs with agx's already. i can tell you this, i love the way the car handles. i have the agx's set on 1 front and back and the ride feels alot smoother than the sprints. the sprints had alot of bodyroll while the gen2's dont. cant wait till next year for autocrossing.
