Trunk wont open

For some reason, I cant get my trunk to open. Ive tried using the lever on the drivers side, having someone lift while Im pulling the lever, using the key, and lifting while turning the key. The key fits in the hole and turns, but it still wont open. I searched for this and noticed people saying it is the hinges in the trunk. I cant figure out how to get my back seats out to get into the trunk to check. So my questions are, why wont it open, and how can I get the back seat out to check for the problem. Any help would be great.

first remove the bottom seat. there is a pull clip on each side, stick you hand under the coushin, in the middle of each side, there is a little ring you can pull, pull it and lift up on the seat hard, and it will pop loose, do both sides and you can pull the seat out. then you can get at the bolts that hold the rear section.

Ok when you get in ther trunk, pull the cable by hand,
step 2,
go outside the car to the back, or you can stay in the trunk, lol, There is a saftey lock, were the trunk latch goes into, it comes up & down, pull it up, it probably went down, because you slammed your trunk to hard or something...

I see you live in AZ, if you wanna drive to NYC ,'ill open it for you,lol....

previous owner of my car thought he had the same problem. the lever in the cab of the car does not work for me at all, doesn't even move the lever in the trunk. What I have to do, and what I suggest, put the key in, turn it, while pushing DOWN slightly, yeah sounds wierd, but it may free up the latch and let it let go of the trunk.

give it a shot see what happens :-)

I am sundevil's friend. We found the problem. the cable that connects the key cylinder to the latch is gone. He went to nissan and ordered one after we failed at ghetto rigging it. If any of you can could you post pics of how the cable hooks up, thanks.

pics of trunk

i took some pics of the inside of the trunk. the 1st pic is of the key cylinder and the trunk release latch. notice that there is nothing connecting them.

this pic is of what the key goes into

and this last pic is where the bar from the key cylinder is supposed to attach to the release latch.

You get the trunk open yet? If not make sure the interior release lock out is not on. Its a little lever located under the latch in the trunk, on the body of the car itself. I dont have a key that fits my trunk and one day accidently hit that lever and couldnt open the trunk from the release inside. I had to go in from the back seat and manually release it.
