Rotor wear question?

I bought my car a few months ago, and it had been sitting in a driveway for months before that, so the rotors were totally rusted. I had the rotors and pads replaced, and I noticed the rotors are only wearing on the outermost two-thirds of its surface. I can see the rust building up on the inner third (maybe quarter) of the rotor's usable surface. Thinking the shop may have put the wrong pads on, I went to Autozone, picked up a set up pads for my car, and threw them on. But it still looks eactly the same. Is this how they're supposed to wear, or do I have a wrong part somewhere? Any insight would be appreciated!

I also bought a B13 that was sitting for a long time. All 4 rotors were a chunk of rust, so I replaced them with brembos. I think what you are referring to is normal. There is about a quarter of an inch in the inner part of the rotor that does not make contact with the pads, so it will rust. I'm having a different issue though. The outer part of the rotor in the front passanger side is rusted, like the pads are not making contact. I Know that I need a wheel bearing and the pass axle is bad, so maybe that's why. Anyway, my brembos started to get rusted also, so I bought a can of aluminum high temp paint and painted the calipers and the nonusable part of the rotors and there is no rust. But I think you're OK.
