differences in the Primera engine

Hey guys----quick question---I know the pistons give a higher c.r. in the primera engine--and the exhaust manifolds are different, but is there anything else internally different? fastnx is selling a primera engine for 4 bones w/o cams and he is only 1 hr away from me. Would I have any other benefits besides the pistons that I could take off the engine? If that is all there is, then I can buy aftermaket higher compression pistons (higher than 10:1) cheaper than the 4 bones. I called k wantanabe to verify I can get a jdm primera engine for 260 also! I thought that was an exaggeration in this post.. http://www.sr20deforum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9817

it works out to 350 shipped, but I would rather pay the 4 and help a list member out--if there are any parts that will help me out. NOTE: my stock engine is fine--and I already have a header--so the jdm manifold will not help me.

thanks for any input as always

why don't you get some 91 intake/exhaust cams and just install them into the JDM motor, then swap the whole engine..

Don't bother changing 91-2 cams into a 10:1 motor will not help you any...

I believe if the engine he would buy had no cams.. installing ANY cams would be of much good to him..
that is not a bad price for the motor, if it is clean and worth your while to pick up, I say grab it.

first off, it is k WATANABE.. and they are listed on http://www.se-r.net/mall/vendors.html

their prices fluctuate alot. I once bought a engine from them (it was a clean motor) I called, they said 210 plus shipping, I called back to order, they said 450 plus core plus shipping.. I called back again, and they said 210 plus 85 core plus shipping.. I ended up paying something like 360 to my door, not a bad deal.

The Primera motor also has Sodium filled Exhaust Valves like the DET's! This was confirmed a couple of years back while ben Benavides and I took one of my Primera heads to DPR. We cut a valve in half and sure enough, Sodium filled valves!
