CS - Valve Shim Measuring Tool for serious engine builders
Well, after finding a 95 P10 for a great price that had a blown apart valve train, I had to reassemble the rocker arm/cams to get it running again. The problem came with shimming the valves. The car had 6 broken rocker arms and the shims were lying around the head in no particular order. So putting them back blindly wasnt an option.
I needed a way to measure for the proper thickness of valve shims. The only option out there is this trick plate that Nissan Techs use, and that sucker will set you back almost $400.
In comes a spectacular tool. Used to measure the height difference between the valve with the retaining shim and the top of the other valve (see FSM for details). Once I built this tool, rebuilding the head only took me an hour at the most. Figure, If I needed this tool, so would others.
Without further adoo, here is the new Custom Steel Valve Shim Measuring Tool!!!
Note the pimp CS logo
has all the accuracy you will ever need
I am now offering these for $175 shipped to your door, if thats not a GREAT deal, I dont know what is. You international people get with me on the shipping price to your location.
Comes with what you see in the first picture. This tool will last you a lifetime if you take proper care of the unit. This tool is built specifically for the SR20 motor.
Ive got 3 of these ready to go, further orders will take a week to produce. You can paypal to bossman@customsteel.com
Sweet baby Jesus, I'll talk to anouther guy that I'm in class with, we're building an engine together and we both need this tool for proper shim placement. We may go half on this and buy it.
Just as a side note... a while ago I ordered the Kent Moore SPX tool that does the same thing and paid about $290 - 300. This is a steal at the price P@ is selling them for!

Ive got 3 on hand, he can call me during biz hours at 505-552-0008
And your biz hours are from ____to______ in ________ timezone? I printed out your phone number that was on www.customsteel.com , the 1800 number, and gave it to him.
Wow, great! Im just curious why you didnt you copy the latter version of the KM tool
I didnt copy it, because the final price would be about the same. So why bother at that point. This tool works and works well, its based on the old way that Nissan used to measure for valve shims.
I dont see why this wouldnt work on a DET head, the lifter bore should be the same as a DE head.
On the VE head, does it use a different style lifter than the DE?
I was saying yours works on the DE/Ts, i just wrote a confusing sentance. I meant to say the other tool will work on all the sr20s and sr16's, yours just works on the DE and DETs.
the VE doesnt have lifters. The rocker arms are pivoting on a shaft. and are basically solid.

bah, who cares about sr16's anyway
