P.S...not sure if that would fit between the engine and the right frame rail.

I'd be willing to notch the frame for that.

if you would need old p/s pumps i have 2

OH YEAH ONE MORE IDEA....what about a bracket that would slide the alternator back a little to line the pulley up with the water pump?

then we could all have our crank pulleys machined down to the inner pulley!!!

well 9 months later....heres the idea....need to do some cleaning up on the power steering elimnation kit...and find the right belt, simple tighten to tension adjustment, elminates the entire power steering assembly and bracket, plus the cast iron piece everything attaches to...figure 15lbs removed, and this unit with the pully weighs in at 2-3 lbs

Since this isnt head specific, it *should* work on all SR20 blocks (FWD) Thats assuming they all have that bracket on the lower part of the motor where the PS pump rotates.

Price is gonna be in the $175-$200 range.

Ok - so of what I can figure this is only eliminating the PS pump - what about the whole rack and pinion system - Is the plan to keep using it, just w/o the assistance of PS??

I want to completely eliminate the rack and pinion and go to an "old skool" steering gearbox. I know the steering shaft that comes out of the firewall is gonna have a spline end - which I don't have the means to cut, but that's not important - steering gearboxes are geared to give some mechanical advantage correct?? Does anyone know if there is such a steering gearbox that is already in production (by nissan) for an older car or something that will accept the male spline of the steering wheel shaft??

Much weight could be eliminated by throwing the rack and pinion away for a steering gear box, and also mine is blown and I don't wanna buy a new one LOL

If anyone knows - let me know...

you can look for a B13 manual rack....dont know if it bolts up to a B14 but im sure it could be made to fit.

Thanks - I'm not very familiar with rack and pinion systems - I figured when he said a manual rack he was referring to a rack and pinion w/o PS - which is what I don't want. If there is a gearbox out there - can you direct me a little. I tried searching for a B13 system like Yahnoza mentioned, but all I came up w/ was the rack and pinion w/ PS.
