ok.....so we know WHY the b15/p11 tranny is an upgrade. MY question is when: when do you have so much horses that getting the upgraded tranny should be a good option?

when you break your tranny, then that would be a good time to upgrade

I'm felling nice today... I did a search for you and all.

Ohh, and the answer is that there is no real answer to your question... just depends on how hard you are on the tranny, the clutch/PP you run, and so many other little details that it's hard to put into one sentance.

'99 G20s have RS5F32' transmissions. You want a '00-02 G20 or G20t, which have RS5F70A or 'V transmissions, respectively.

So is the P11 tranny better suited to higher whp cars because of the longer gear ratios? I know you would go faster in the end but takeoff wouldn't be as strong though would it?

Has nothing to do with ratios. The gearbox case as well as internal supports are stronger, so no 3rd gear trashing or 5th gear popout. Assuming you can read and have the skill and motor dexterity to find the first post in this thread, you will find the answer to your question provided quite clearly.

With some modifications yes, but for the most part its just swapping parts from your old tranny.

^How did you manage to blow your tranny especially all motor? There are guys running 400+whp that don't blow them. One guy on this forum blew his finally after 30,000 miles and 500whp daily. What went wrong with yours?

That is unheard of. Maybe you had a tranny leak and had no gear oil in it? Not sure...

I never saw a leak I was under there not that long before. My guess is that my shortshifter is causing problems. The centering spring in the shifter is too tight now and pulls it to one side. I believe this is putting tension on the internals of the trans and causing premature wear? But WTF do I know?
