Not on the forum much lately since neck injury - we'll be back at it soon, babying the n00bies.

Yes, K-Sport and D2 are DEFINITELY designed and manufactured at the same locations by the same company (D2Racing is the "mother" company). They have directly said in the past that K-Sport was "speced" by the original Japanese importer, both in design and in coloring.

You also need to add HOTBIT coilovers, Rallyrobin in this forum has used them and there is a NA distributor.

Also search at www.noltecsuspension.com

They are more expensive than the rest but they claim big improvements.

And as in ALL "foreign" companies, check applications for N14 as well. They are identical. Some RNN14 are also identical, others are not.

You should add Whiteline in both FSTB and RSTB braces. Look their sheet for N14. They are identical.

Also, WHAT eBAY RSTB did you find and where???? I have never seen any for a B13...

Thank you hpro123 for the suggestions and corrections.

I will investigate further and make changes. Hell, I think I'm gonna quote you on the K Sport/D2 issue.

Gracias!

No problem!! I was planning to do something like that but now.. you are the man!

1. Corrections will certainly be forthcoming.

2. As for the KSport/D2 issue, you can quote me.

2-3 years ago, when KSport/D2 started appearing in Group Buys in the US, I was unfortunately "connected" with one of the THEN, 2 persons/companies that worked on those GBs. Unfortunately because he eventually stiifed me for US$750 or something!!! Anyway, bottom line is that we got in touch with D2 in Taiwan and they affoered us 2 choices for the GB, either D2 in purple color or KSport in orange and they did say that excluding minor differences like the body-lengthening retainer mechanism all the rest and the itnernals were identical since they did design/produce them right there.

3. Whiteline FSTB and RSTB are of great quality and they do have (FOR A PRICE THOUGH) a nice touch. They sell an extra universal item, a FAST-ATTACH-DETACH thingy that lets you remove the brace from the Strut paltes. I did check theuir catalog though today and they have removed A LOT of applications from their list, including the RSTB.

Proof read away sir, you have my very sincere thanks. I was hoping someone who knows suspensions would give a very critical eye to my ramblings. I am trying to stay fairly detatched, and mostly quote smart folks.

I already quoted you and incorporated your suggestions and knowledge.

I have no ego involved here, pointing out any mistakes is welcome. This is a SR20Forum resource, I want it to be as accurate as possible.

Gracias amigo!

Those are Ground Control bumpstops. I know, I bought a set of their "Soft, progressive 19-24mm strut" snubbers (haven't put them on yet, though) for $12/ea. It looks like you've gotten the wrong name attached to that info, since ES has two whole pages of universal bumpstops. Also, while I have no direct experience, I've been told that the ES bumpstops (made of their polyurethane) are far too stiff for our cars. That logic seems to make sense to me, esp. given that Koni & GC use foam-like bumpstops...

Whoops.....posted that photo and info in the wrong spot. LOL. Late night cuttin' and pastin'.

Already fixed. Appreciate the good editor eyes. The name of the damn photo has "ground control" in it. Doh.

THANKS!

Awesome writeup! Glad to see reinforcement on the quality of my hyperco genII's! Lately I've been wondering if I should get some coilovers to replace them...

Hyperco I's seem ok, especially with csk's.

HII more like $330 shipped

Nismo fstb only works on highports???

Nu-tech also makes a rear sway bar that is no longer in production. I've got it. They also made a front lower brace

Also shigspeed gear is excellent and I dont see any mention of it.

I didn't read the whole thing, but those are a few impressions... Exellent stuff Sean.

Thanks Adam. I think I am going to use your Cusco strut bar pictures. I was going to pilfer the pics from another thread. However, you could e-mail me said pictures at djshawnb@houston.rr.com if you would like. That would be terrific.

Thank Doc. It is coming along nicely for one weeks work, still have a ways to go.

Without a doubt your Hyperco's kick major ass.

CSK's (Custom Shortened Koni's) are calling your name. The more research I do, the more it is glaringly evident that if you want the very best struts and hence handling, you need to shorten the struts. Koni's all the way. The only thing that prevented me purchasing CSK's is budget. I am very happy with my current suspension (Hyperco/AGX/Koni bumps), but....damn CSK's are the ticket if your pocket book can shrug off the hit. 2 cents.

Thanks Bennitto.

Hyperco Gen I spring rates and drop coming when I find them. They're around here somewhere. I also *think* (maybe....) the Pro Kits or H&R's should work just fine with CSK's. Look at the drop and the rate. Mated with CSK's you'd be losing less than half an inch of overall suspension travel, the springs would be stiffer than stock by a decent amount. That *might* be really comfy for a DD. Hmmmm.....more information coming.

Eh....$330 shipped, $300 ballpark. (+/-) 10% on pricing is close enough in this thread. I'm just trying to give folks a general idea of what they are looking at for pricing on the products. Exact pricing? Nah. Too tedious and subject to market changes overnight by any manufacturer.

Nismo FSTB clearance concern noted, I am still trying to find ANY web-site that has a picture of one. I am not even sure if they are still made. More information upon more reSearch.

Nu Tech incorporated. I have the original Classic SE-R articles from SCC. I can quote them on the Nu Tech products. I can also quote SCC on the (discontinued, bad-ass) Shocktek suspension.

Shigspeed incorporated. More information as it becomes available.

Thanks again folks. This is our thread, not mine. I am a mere librarian assembling information and sticking it in one handy-dandy thread.

Wel I did my road magnets today, and took pics of a few things.

AT rstb

Nu-tech bar w/ shigspeed brace

GC/AGX

RM/AGX

Cusco N14 fstb

Road magnets are pretty good so far. I'm reserving absolute judgement, but a safe assumption is that they are better than most conventional springs, and some coil-overs. The claim of 325/250 for spring rates is accurate. They are priced to go. The road magnet were $225+.

I don't mean to quibble about price, but HII do go for $330 every time NIB, and used (within a day or two).

Edit 4/29/07; I've been on the RM1's for about 6 months and they are a bit too low, but it looks so good. I undestand the new run is going to sit a bit higher. With my B14 wheels and BFG's the braces etc cornering forces can get downright scary. Still waiting to auto-x this setup.

I incorporated all your pictures into the body of the text so that folks don't have to flip back and forth between the pages. "See post #35 for pics" would be kind of tedious to the reader, flipping back and forth between pages.

I'm waiting on the thread on the Road Magnet feedback. Feel free to PM me if I miss it when it gets going. I'll edit it in immediately.

Alright already, I'll change the damn Hyperco price ya' picky bastard!

Thanks for the help, you rock.
