For anyone contemplating this swap and is wanting to fit the HLSD, the part number is 38411Z based on this:

Factory orignal open diff is:

Obviously, the HLSD centre is a bolt in item. 6 speed original inner CV joints are also used. It is not different like the VLSD diff.

Best bit is the price: HERE

Ignore the Viscous tag, they never had a Viscous LSD on the Maxima 6 speeds.

Thanks Greg, I will keep that in mind

I was only using them as an example due to the handy pictures and part numbers

From what we have been looking at today, the HLSD will also fit the RS5F50A gearbox... thats the 5 speed FWD U13 gearbox and Maxima FWD box(along with a few other cars)

I have been searching high and low for a 5speed P11 and have decided to just buy an auto and do a swap. This thread has intrigued me. A couple of questions I have. Why is the P12 flywheel and clutch not being used for the swap. If a bellhousing, slave cylinder, and axle mount all have to be sourced from the JDM market, why not just get the clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate also? The price of a flywheel is what is really putting the whole swap over the top for me. That and the fact that the $300.00 bellhousing needs to be modified to clear the Jim Wolf S15. I can understand the appeal of the larger clutch friction surface, but having to cut the brand new shiny piece of $300 aluminum. Is it really not that big a deal? Anyone know what size the P12 clutch is? I may have missed it in the 20 pages or so that just burned the retinas out of my eyes. Also on the subject of the ABS. Has anyone tried the outer CV joint from a P11 on the SPEC-V axle? If I do the swap I plan on taking some measurements to see if this is a possibility. Not sure if someone has already been there and done that. Is anyone offering packages for the bellhousing, flywheel, slave cylinder, clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, and axle mount? One stop shopping less shipping, discounted package deal!

Thanks for any and all answers/replies.

Theres a 04 spec v tranny sitting local waiting for me. Should I get it? How much should one of these trannies go for? I am no stranger to work and willing to do the swap, I just don't want to over pay for the main piece right off the bat!!
400 a decent price?

Will I be able to use the stock SR20 flywheel, as found in say a B14 SE-R with a 215mm cutch, but with a custom clutch disc, to accept the larger input shaft?

Here is the mock up (already being made) driver side mount for the QR trans.

Here is the carrier shaft bracket that we've made. ( Already done and available)

Here is the rear bracket

Yes

Starter motor ring gear is same radius and the 26mm OD input shaft is no big issue, its the same spline shaft as the 350Z

I also used a cut up LSB(Light Steel Beam) for the gearbox mount, as the oval box section sits nicely on the chassis rail and provides a little more torsional strength. Cut up the middle of the two box sections and the top box section sits on the top of the chassis rail, cut a few 10mm holes in the top section to line up the screws in the lower piece of steel on chassis rail and also allows the use of the stock gearbox mounting point as well when using a 330mm length

Yes, this is looking good.

By the way, we have access to the same transmission over here but with the following ratios (from the N16 Almera 2.2 DCi)...

1st - 3.416
2nd - 1.944
3rd - 1.258
4th - 0.902
5th - 0.673
6th - 0.540

Final Drive - 3.812

Hi, wondering if your carrier shaft bracket will work with the factory P12 shafts from the P12 20V (i.e is it the same as a P12 bracket?) or if its different and if so, what shaft, from what USDM car is the shaft from?

Also do you have an ETA on the rear mount and an estimated price?

Cheers.

I've tried reading through all of this thread, but do not have all night. As far as the axles and hub swap goes for a B14, does anyone know if the axles are the same length between the Spec V and the B14, and also if so, does anyone know if the inner tripods on the axles are the same? Reason for asking is to see if it would be possible to just use the inner portion of the Spec V axle that splines in the tranny, and then mate the B14 axle at the inner tripod, so no hub swap would be necessary. I don't know if this has been thought of before, and if so, I apologize, but I just can't sit here and go through all the posts in this thread.
