I completly disagree with that statement. The first gear of the 02 tranny is even quicker than a SR16VE gearbox.

food for thought, i remember hearing there was a lot of problems with the 02 trannys and the problem was fixed for the 03 model run. i also think i remember hearing the fixed 03 trannys had different gearing in 1st and 2nd or something along them lines. might wanna look into that.

i did look into that actually. you already missed the "discussion" in the thread that was removed so i guess you havent been following it. I have heard that the 02's had problems as well as the 03's i have heard that they changed the gearset in the 03's to the later style but i have also found that some 03 gear boxes have had the same ratio's as the older 02 gear box. with all these "possibilities" i choose not to use one. I have an 04 in mint condition. I recommend that everyone else do the same.

Actually, try to get a Maxima LSD or a Celica GT-S. the tiburon is even a great box. Just get the LSD unit out of another Spec-V or damaged trans.

no one has 100% done this to my knowledge. I may most likely be the first one.

Trans was $350
Flywheel aprox $400
clutch $160
shifter ??
Cables ??
then front and side motor mounts.

so far thats about $900... I can get new cables for $90 and a new shifter for $110. thats another $200 total now $1100. and just need axles, about $75 ea and mounts. so for about $1500 or less you can do this.

IT just takes time and searching for the parts and some know how.

Just to add ... if you want a short shifter go with the Nissan Motor sports Gen2 or fatticon.

Those two seem to have exact same ratios (including final) and yet... the calculated MPH are different. Where is the catch (or what is the @$@%@&^ different assumption) ?

Tire size?

the maxima and 04+ box are the same except the 6th gear. spec v is .673 and maxima is .630. the slight varriation like 42.1mph vs 42.36 is just math. sometimes i round from the .001 sometimes I round from .01. and so on. it depends. but that .2mph diff is just that, there is nothing else different..

The 6th gear is diffrent thats why you have a higher MPH in sth that is over 200 MPH

and the gearing is calculated from a diifrent percentage. So they are the same from 1-5.
