RS5F70V...if you can get one. As stated before, I'd rather use the gear stacks and differential ring and pinion from a 1.8l Sentra (RS5F70A), if they'd fit inside the V case and work with the viscous coupler.

The clutch should be 100% interchangable.

So, would the RS5F70A from the 1.8 liter engine be "equivalent" to the plain old RS5F32A I have in my car right now?

Strong as the RS5F70V but with open diff?

The trick thing to do here is buy the Nismo dif for the Non LSD cars for around $1000 (From me of course) and then buy those 1.8 tranny for a dime a dozen. Yes, they should be as strong, and have the better gear ratios. Then if you blow them up, go buy another cheapo 1.8 and swap the dif and keep going.

So by doing this would you need to use different axles also? Or can you use the standard LSD equipped car axles on the non LSD 1.8 tranny with nismo dif in it?

When I did my B15 swap I had to use a 98 SE or 99 SE-R Driver's side axle to get it to fit my b13.

You would use the LH axle from a non LSD like a 98-99 B14. Nismo makes a dif for cars with LSD and a different one for w/o LSD. The w./o just happens to be alot more expensive. But if you factor in the price of trannies and what you would pay for a Nismo dif anyway, and with the better gear raios, it makes alot of sense.

I would at least start with getting the VIN from the tranny you're interested in. Then compare it to the ones I have listed above. If it follows the 3N1BB51D**L, go give it a look.

I wanted to add something I found while converting my P11 to cable. On my specific tranny (2002 G20, locking) there is a insert where the clutch arm rests in

comparing to a B13

Some quick measurements on the lip above the insert show that without the insert the mounting/pivot hole for the arm is the same diameter as my B13 tranny. So maybe grinding of the B13 shaft might not be needed, only removal of the insert.
After removal of the insert, the grinding of the B13 arm is NOT needed.
Does anyone know of a good way to get the insert mentioned above out? Advice would be GREATLY appreciated. TIA

this thread is way too long, please edit it down.

From what im reading, the 1.8 tranny would install just like the p11/b15 tranny - well it is a b15 tranny. But Im still confused and my eyes hurt from reading page after page. Is it just cheaper, or possibly easier as well?
