does anyone know why or had any experiences with their cars rejecting the calum basic ecu? like check engine lights and fans turning on. it will start but run so rich and rough it will foul the plugs and die. the only things that have been changed since it worked before xmas is the coolant temp sensor and another b13 harness. i had it sent back to calum to fix a broken solder in the ecu which was the original problem. and i have tried multiple ecu's now since i got it back flashed with the same tune i had before.
also i tried an n60 tune that was dang close to my setup. the car idled good but fell on its face and bucked under any throttle but at about 4000 it pulled out of it. ground issue or tune?
help? thanks

blown struts are no good for curves...you should like straight lines too...
im not actually the one that is flashing the chips so what does entering that number sequence do? i dont know much about the computer part yet. im kinda a noob still lol
You probably didn't set the start address to 0008000 when you burned your chip. I had the same symptoms.
out of curiosity which symptoms did you have? the first list or the n60 symptoms? and btw the fans and check engine light came on when i tried the n60 tune as well. sorry bout that little omission

I had a BIN that was working fine, never faltered. I swapped in an N60 MAF and burned the N60 tune and the fans came on, CEL on, rough running. Re-burned using the correct settings (as described on the Calum tutorial) and it was fine.
OBDI SE-R.
Sounds to me like a corrupt or incorrectly burned ROM.
I should have thought of this before, but I just had the BIN issue so it was fresh in my mind and I went for the easy answer. I also didn't fully read the post, my bad...
The problem is your new harness.
Nissan for some reason uses different plugs for every damn sensor under the hood EXCEPT for the knock sensor and coolant temp sensor. If you switch these two, you fry your ECU, and of course your coolant temp doesn't work (not your coolant GAUGE) so the car is in limp mode (fans on, CEL on).
You probably need to swap the two plugs and repair your ECU and all others you had on the car during the troubleshooting.
my car is 1993 nx2000. the harness i put on the car came out of a 1991 nx2000. everything plugged in just fine and was all the same except one connector by the ecu that has a green relay on it. we just depinnned it and used the old connector on it. so if it was going to fry my calum wouldnt it have fried the stock ecu i have been running for like 2 months now? the car runs fine all things considered right now. the reason i changed the coolant temp sensor is because i suspected the old one bad not due to changing harnesses
All I can say is that I know someone who swapped the knock sensor and the temp sensor and it caused issues. Make sure you have them correct. They're the same plug style.
I didn't imply that you changed the knock sensor. You swapped the entire harness right? It's POSSIBLE to switch the knock plug with the temp plug, but it doesn't sound like you did that...
oh i see i didnt mean you implied lol sorry. but yeah the car is running just fine right now on stock ecu so im assuming the sensor connectors are on their respective sensors. the problems crop up when the calum is swapped in
what code dose the ecu give you? check to see if the daughter board is lose too *** it shouldn't be. If all else fails just send it back to calum and have him take a look at it.
CEL and fans come on during a couple of things. 1, the bin is burned to the chip incorrectly as mentioned. 2, the daughterboard is not installed correctly on the pins. 3, the ECU itself is faulty. Try the same daughterboard in a different ecu and it will tell you a lot.
yeah so i just put the ecu in the car and it ran a crap ton better than last time. still cel on with fans running. but the chips were verified and the tune file was checked on two different computers. when it came back from calum he said it checked out on the test board. but there was a note about daughterboard pins. so thats the next step i think. well the first thing were gonna try is just put this ecu into a car that works with a calum right now.
