newbie ecu upgrade question
Please pardon what I'm sure has been covered 100x before. I did a search and I get alot of useful info, its just way over my head. I'm extremely new to these cars. I come to you from the land of Subaru. I just purchased a 100% stock low mileage m/t '95 se-r that I am looking to enter into the stock n/a track class this summer. It will never see the road again. I'm putting on basic bolt-on mods. No turbo, No +maf, nothing like that. Header, flywheel, pulley are basically it. It will have a sick suspension build however.
The need to remove the rev limit @7000rpm alone is forcing me to swap/upgrade my ecu. I'm NOT looking to turn this thing into a hp monster, but what are the advantages(outside of cost) of a JWT ecu(or Calum etc.) over a just swapping in a g20 ecu? I assume those companies/individuals offer super basic plug/play ecu'ing(is that a word?) What is the realistic hp gain. Torque gain? Low end? High end? Sorry for the long read, I guess I am just looking for this forums suggestion before I make a poor purchase. Thank you for any simple advice.
