Ok I had my 1st race the other night with my new ve swap. I endded up winning but, after the race my car was idialing at 2,000 and had a hard time starting. I had to put the throttle to the floor to get it to start. I pulled the spark plugs the next morning and they were black as black can be. I cleaned them up the best I could and when to practice at a different track that morning. It seem to start and idle fine until, I went out and ran 10-12 laps and pulled in. It wouldn't start with out giving it gas and black smoke can out like it's running to rich. I have jwt ecu in it an ebay cold air intake, the motor is stock, and a walbro fuel pump. I'm not sure what is up with it. I went back out for anothe test setion and it ran fine, but wouldn't rest start with out giving it gas and it would hardly idle. If you have any ideas please pass them along!
Walbro fuel pump...do you have an AFPR with that? It could be jacking up your fuel pressure if you are still using the stock regulator.

And what temp sensor are you using. If you are using the wrong temp sensor, then the eCU either thinks the car hasnt warmed up yet (dump fuel) or is overheating (pull timing and dump fuel)
ok on the coolent temp sensor - the one in the ve won't plug into the stock b13 wiring harness (the plug is to big) what should I do? I didn't have it hooked up at all. So I think this is my problem.
idk i guess I'll have to call gspec and see what they had it tuned for. No fuel pressure reg. I don't think that is it...I bought the car with the walbro in it and the kid drove it daily with no problems. It's got to be the coolent temp sensor. Why should I switch it with a b14?
Yea it could definitely be your pump. The Walbro will jack it up a few psi.
I know a bunch of cats who throw in the new pump thinking it is the best option and don't even realize its a higher capacity pump and you NEED a regulator to fix it. That would make you run rich.
Also try swapping that temp sensor out with a usdm one, see how it runs after that. Can't hurt and its pretty quick fix. Be sure and use allot of teflon or rtv and let it set up before starting the car with that sensor. The wrong coolant sensor would also cause the problems you are describing. Either way once you fix it it is going to run like a bat outta hell.
Sounds like whoever had the car before you probably didn't know what he was getting into, so I wouldn't trust anything, make sure everything is set up properly..
The walbro isnt the cause of this. Yes it will be a little rich if you dont have an afpr, but it wouldnt make it run rich enough to cause these problems. You definately need a usdm coolant temp sensor, not having that WILL dump fuel. JWT does not tune any VE ecu's to run JDM sensors, only usdm. After you get the coolant temp sensor in and hooked up, if the symptoms are still there then check your maf connections.
