Timing Marks are OFF

Hey guys, Been trying to get my 93 NX 2000 to run a little better. Idles rough, Sluggish, weak.

I was trying to set the timing today and found that my timimg marks are off quite a bit. When the engine is running ptretty good, the marks are at about 2 oclock instead of 11 oclock at the timing pin. I set the distributer as far advanced as it would go and then retarted it a bit. Runs really good, but can this harm the engine. Could the pulley be out of place? How about my light, could it be bad. Hope you guys can help. This is strange.

Thanks, Bob

If you advance the timing you need to be running 93 Octane. Something you might look around for would be cracked or kinked vacuum lines.

Yes, it can be the pulley. The pulley is actually 2 separate pieces bonded together by a rubber layer, which can deteriorate, allowing the outer section to rotate relative to the inner one.

Thanks for the feedback. It appears that the timing marks are on the inside edge. Wonder how I can check my timing with this problem.
