using nissan datascan i noticed that when idling my timing is jumping within 3 to 15 degrees constantly and causing engine to idle roughly.
I realise that it need sometime to settle, but I kept waiting and nothing.
What could be cause of that.
I think that it isn't normal
Maybe some kind of misfiring?
first, have you locked the timing? if so, it could be a vaccum leak somewhere. grab some carb cleaner and spray some of the hoses and look for leaks. also common idle culprits are a dirty/malfunctioning iacv and aac valves, or a dead engine coolant temperature sensor (I wrote a writeup on how to remove it in the how to section).
there's a whole thread about rough idle in there as well. Start with the easy stuff as mentioned on there and then proceed to the harder/expensive/replacing items after. no sense in throwing money away for no reason
i can't lock timing.thats the prob.i can hear rattling chain while starting so i guess tension is not good on chain, and it could be out of spec and it could be the problem, and it also have too much torque on low rpm than usual and high and is not so good.
