Ok after weeks of debating and talking to friends on whether I should get a JWT ECU with an SAFC or a Calum ECU with an SAFC or an AEM EMS............................................... .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ...... I took the plunge and ordered the AEM EMS . I need someone to take me under their wings and let me know all that I need to know in this the darkside of the stanalone world I have a B13 chassis so unfortunately there is no OEM AIT sensor like you lucky bastards with B14's and B15's What do you guys think did I make the right choice? Have I bit off more than I can chew? Ok so I know that I don't have the AIT sensor and that I'm going to have to install a Map sensor so I was wondering how hard it's going to be to wire those into the AEM being that the AEM uses the OEM sensors and wiring harness. Let the suggestions opinions and advice start flowing guys. I'm also going to do a write uo on the Install of the AEM into my SE-R for those of you guys that want to take the plunge but are scared because of the lack of info out there for us.
Jerry.

Since you keep ignoring me on AIM, i will post up. It is the BEST option out there (other than other stand alones). You will use a GM AIT sensor and I would stick to the AEM 3.5bar map sensor. Did you get the internal or external UEGO version? What info do you need? As far as installation, it is easy to follow, just like any other device or piggy back. Run wires to the new sensors (map, wideband and AIT) directly to the back of the ECU plug with fresh pins and solder them. The rest is all software configuration. Use an AEM setup calibration for B13 w/map (unless you are using a MAF still and in that case you don't need to wire in a MAP sensor)

dude i am not ignoring u on aim man are u sure you are sending it to the right screen name? (Avenirser) i have the gm 3 bar map sensor and the aem ait sensor. so just run new wires from the sensors to the back of the aem ems? that was my only major concern. i will be contacting u when i receive the ems. thank you very much sir
Just keep a running tally of your progress in this thread as well as questions so other people can give insight. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE AEM MAP SENSOR! The GM unit wears out faster, is more sensitive to vibration.moisture.heat and isn't as accurate. I replaced two (each on different cars) after we had drivablility problems after only 6 months.
MAP Sensor:
Red goes to pin 37 -- this wire gets taped
White to pin 35 -- this wire should be green or yellow and is the 5v ref it should be cut
Black to pin 21 -- this wire should be taped also to senor ground
IAT Sensor:
The wires go to pins 26 and 29, it doesn't matter which wire goes to either pin.
one side goes to the same sensor gound as the black map wire (taped) the other gets cut.
Boost Solenoid:
The wires go to pins 47 and 111, again no particular order.
47 gets taped its 12v source
111 gets cut
wideband:
u use the white wire out of the guage and run it to pin 19 it gets cut also. (only if you have the external gauge, not for use with the internal UEGO version.)
shift light is easy as well. the ems supplys the ground for it connect your ground to pin 45. then the rest it setup in the software.
for bj connect ground to lowside pin 102 setup ems software to activate at 3Krpms and shut off at 88 mph.lol
OMG man u are a life saver sir sharing all this knowledge that you have. I will eventually get the AEM 3.5 bar map sensor the only thing that I didn't understand in your post was the last bit about bj activating at 3krpms and shutting off at 88mph. What does bj stand for?
that end part, pretty funny. It is a low side output trigger, so it grounds a circuit to turn it on. I think I had it for water injection, not sure where BJ came from, that was in my notes. That isn't a pin you will need to setup though.
Dude as I said before thanx a million for all the information you have shared with me I joined the AEM forum a couple months ago and couldn't even find what I needed there after a ton of searching. Also I'm very sorry because we seemed to have gotten off on the wrong foot but now it's all good. You are the man sir!!!!

theres not much on the aem forums for our cars simply because not many of us chose aem even though its a wonderful computer for the price.

One thing that you guys keep saying is there is nothing ont he AEM forums for our cars. Well, there is reason for that. The guts of it work the same for all cars. The only difference are pinouts and ignition signals and so on. You guys should read the fuel injection 101 PDF and the AEM EMS BAsics PDF and stuff. That will tell you how the tables work together and so on. It is really a great standalone and a lot of support out there. ALso, AEM phone in support is really good. They also have classes you can go to on it and stuff like that.
From what I have learned, the AIT sensor helps adjust for density. There is a table that increases fuel based on intake air temp for the MAP. THe MAF based setup doesn't read that input for that reason. It can use the AIT for adjustment, but it isn't necessary.
