hydrocarbon buildup / bad gas mileage&emissions?

Just took my car to get emissions done, it passed but the mechanic said barely because of the hydrocarbon buildup? he said I should be getting way better gas mileage and it can also caise dramatic loss in power. What do I do??

Check your timing/fuel pressure/O2 sensors. My bet is you could run some premium and up the timing to about 17* and solve a lot of that.

I had the same kind of issue. It was hyrdo-carbon build up in the intake runners. Not cheap to clean out if you pay some cheap but a PITA to do you self but you could always do some thermoblock spacer at the same time to make the work more worthwhile.

Start with coaches suggestion first though.
