I think a lot of you guys are really blowing this out of proportion. We are willing to be flexible and see what can be done, nothing is set in stone, but to be honest with you it is impossible to work with people who can't compose a single sentence without profanity. If you can't discuss the issue in a calm manner then I feel it would be pointless to even attempt to discuss it.. for those of you who can act like adults and discuss the issue I'm open to discussing it.
Discussing this issue is like talking to stone...nothing is going to happen that can remove your BS company that has unfortunately bought out this forum.

Upgrades??? I don't think being sold out to autoforums an upgrade. In your companies mission statement it says something to the tune of ,
"we provide innovative ways of helping advertisers reach new communities of varying interests, thereby helping your advertising."
That is exactly what I don't want. I want every add on this forum gone. I see all of these forum contributers here and they contributed for one reason, to keep this site running. That is the only reason.

Nothing is going to be perfect, and there are going to be changes. All I can offer is the ability to "set things up as they were" by choice. I can assure you, I am a car enthusiast. I've owned plenty of "go fast cars" that had no show -- and everything in between.
I can't claim a world of SR20 knowledge -- only a passion for cars.
So we're to just line up and follow a leader that none of us know/trust? You can't even name the cars that the engine came in. You probably don't even know where this site was spawn from. Hell, what do you care? You just want bottom line advertising dollars.
Both of the past owners were VERY MUCH SR enthusiasts, you claim to be an automotive enthusiast. Respect is earned here. You sir have managed to earn ZERO respect.
jensen...this willnever happen. he owns this site now and he feels it needs to be change slightly. i can under stand this.
however if he wants the bread and butter of this forum to stick around he will need to meet us half way. or he will end up with forum of newbies, the forum supporting vendors will up and leave (hey ekool....tell me what other forum has their very own machine shop making them kick ass parts?) and this forum will be nothing but old information and kids telling other kids 100% incorrect information.
3si.org -- off the top of my head. I'm sure there are others... the SSR site also has a list of free parts available when anyone breaks down in an area with another SSR member. Most of our communities thrive and we work hard to make sure this happens. I'm willing to bend over backwards to help the community out -- but there are some things that just flat out will have to change -- the sidebar on by default -- thats there for good. Can you disable it in 5 seconds? yep. Work with me and I'll work with you.

This forum is above all things, a non profit resource. It will not be used as a device for your ad generation revenue.

i wasn't thinking too much about this topic while reading through until i found out we can't edit our posts? that would be one thing that i dislike the most.
I don't like having my information being used for your advertising. It's an invasion of privacy and a shady way of marketing. Bad ethics to impose on a forum comprised of old members.
As one of the older members AND the owner of a web and print media company, I think it would be in your best interest to tell us a bit about yourself...
when I deal with a small company and take a few employees of theirs to work with mine I make sure they are comfortable and know the team they are working with
We may all have our opinions of autoforums but we deal with you...

You seriously have a lot of eballs to go and say something like that. Easy way out, isn't it? What the fu*k do you expect when you disenfranchise an entire community? You expect the members to act calm and collected? fu*k off.

First and foremost. The v2 theme that EVERYONE ALSO SEEMS TO HATE. Keeps coming back no matter how many times I disable it. I've changed it at the bottom of the screen, I've changed it in the control panel, 80% of the time, I get the 4.1 theme, but 20% of the page loads end up in the v.2 theme. GET RID OF IT.
If that is the case, then it is a bug. I'll be happy to troubleshoot it with you to try and figure out why its happening. Does it revert to the new skin in certain forums? If so, which ones? What pages/URL's use the new skin regardless of your setting?

If the sidebar makes your page cluttered -- disable it. Any user can disable it.

All the paid accounts in the world won't make this place any better or worse.
The ads have been there for non-paid members since before we got here, so thats not anything we've changed.

1) Why does the sidebar HAVE to be there? It wasn't there before and forum ran quite fine without it for many years.
2) In other words you are feeling threatened and therefore feel the need to censor certain things. Say it for what it is and don't use your bullsh*t to cover up your fu*k up that causing people to jump this ship like it's sinking.
3) Why the need to disable the edit feature if not to show fear?
