Cpu Upgrade Successful!!!

Just needed a BIOS update and voila! Plug and play! I chose the "ACPI Mulitprocessor Driver" as well so Windows 2000 is using both CPUs. Any faster for anyone?

I'm using a dial up connection in the hotel, and now its about as fast as my cable connection at home. I'll see how it is in the office tomorrow.

Looking good so far...

BTW - anyone that may know more than me...

I know that a lot of programs won't by default take advantage of the 2nd proccessor, and instead you should assign certain CPU intensive processes to a specific processor - in this case I think it would be the mysql - whadda u other admin types think? I haven't messed with a multi-processor box in a while, I'll read up tommorow.

Sorry I didn't get back to you ben, but glad its all working!

Chris

It's slow right now for me and I think it's because I'm downloading Dell Openmanage Server Administrator which is like 150MB so after about an hour it will be at full speed with it's full bandwidth.

Now to return the Celica to my brother in law in Lafayette... (new front wheel bearings)

Unforunately I am not as knowledable in linux as I am in Windows. I run our mail server at work on linux, but I barely know enough to do so. I feel MUCH more comfortable from an administration standpoint running on Win2k

This is a moot point. The server has been a BSD-subsystem machine since January 14th.
