was It LIVES!! now: It's Dead!

Finally got my B13 straight. In case you all forgot, I had put a B15 trans in, but tried to get funky with gears and gearing and the tranny was too tight. (Don't ask, it's not one of my prouder moments) So I got another B15, left it stock, threw in the Nismo dif and got it back together. This is after Shaggy replaced the head and threw some "ShagSpeed" tricks in there. So, I fire it up, let it idle a bit to bring the OP down, and take off. WOW! it hauls ass! I'm sure the shorter gearing, cold temps, cold tires has some to do with it, but it just smokes through 3rd, all the way to redline fast. I can't wait to put a few more miles on it. I'm now very happy, and can now leave the Altima in the garage until weekends and hot, hot weather.

Just had to let y'all know...

Congrats Greg!

Just out of curiosity, are you running the LSD B15 tranny or the non-LSD B15 tranny?

I have a JDM BB with the GT28RS, S3 cams, pulleys, flywheel and cam gears (+2/-2), 3" exhaust and Cobra maf w/pop charger. I think that's it. I'm using the B15 2.0 w/LSD trans w/Nismo LSD. I do have, BTW the bellhousing to fit a Spec V trans on an SR20 motor. I know it work for B15s becasue of the mounts, might be able to make it work in B13, B14.

So the Nismo (clutch-type) LSD does fit in the B15 tranny... I was uncertain if this would work or not. Did anything special have to be done to get the LSD in there, or was it a simple bolt-on affair... like the B13/B14 trannies?

I won't tell anyone .

But thanks for that information, I was concerned when I finally shredded my B13 tranny that I'd have to sell my Nismo LSD and buy a B15 non-lsd tranny and the more expensive nismo LSD.

Yea? And how much would something like that be sold for? I'd LOVE to go 6-spd one day... gotta match the tranny with the shift knob right?

man, my car is all go and no show. If I send any pics, 'll make sure it's from farther than 50 ft, and wet. I did wash it yesterday, not that it looks much better. I'll see what I can do...

Greg do you need to change the bellhousing to use a 1.8 B15 tranny on an SR engine?

Btw, I got the NX rebuild kit very quickly, thanks again dude!

Well...I think we determined that the 1.8 does use a different bell housing, though the internal gears are the same. Ithink we strike out on that one.
Over the weekend I took my car out for a little "Sunday Drive". As I'm driving home from Shaggy's, I'm cruising about 2500 rpm, 40 MPH and it drops a cylinder again. Last time this happened, I opened it up to find a spit rocker arm and a few of the keeper shims broken. Although it only spit 1 rocker arm. So I have to open it up again. I think the shims aren't amtched right, causing side loads and breaking the keeper shims, moving the rocker arm off. If so I have to measure everything, and hope one of our dealerships ahas the measuring tool. <sigh> I just want my car to run so I can drive it everyday. Turbo cars are a pain in the ass.

I'm very interested in getting the NISMO LSD into my B15 SE w/LSD tranny. Any insight on making this happen, I'd definitely like to know Greg. Thanks.
