Oil Cleanup

Hi fellas. I bonked today and got a huge puddle of oil on my garage floor. The floor is concrete. I cleaned up the slick with like 4 rolls of paper towels but the surface stays greasy no matter how much i wipe it. Also it left a brown stain. How do i get rid of the stain .

Thanks for any help any of you can provide.

I used Castrol Super Clean. Spray, scrub, soak, then rinse. If you can get hold of pressure washer, that would be even better.

Anytime I have to clean an oil stain off of concrete, I use swimming pool acid. Work's like a charm but, becareful the smell is a bit intense.

I'd start by using some carb cleaner and see if that does the trick. If not, then use some of the harsher solutions.

thrice here

I use it as well:

dump it on it, cover it pretty well, walk over it and grind it into the stain, let it sit for like an hour or more, then sweep it up.

Kitty litter to soak up the oil then if you have a stain try engine degreaser let it sit for a few minutes scrub it a little if you think it needs it then hose it off. I always get a few drips on the driveway when I'm changing oil/ other fluids and the engine degreaser works great for me and it's only like 97 cents a can at walmart.

Don't use engine degreaser unless you want your garage to smell like it for a long long time.

I use Castrol Super Clean or Revive-a-Drive. Both work really well.

Nothing short of muriatic acid will completely remove it.

For some reason the generic engine degreaser they sell at walmart dosen't stink as much as most others I have tried like gunk or the advance auto brand.... I do know what you mean about the smell though!!!
I usually get small oil spills on the driveway so the smell isn't an issue for that use since it's not in an enclosed area.

My dog usually licks the oil stains up for me. Lol, jk. I use kitty litter and if it doesn't work I use the strongest smelling household chemical I can find to take care of it.

Kitty Litter (cheap, generic, non-scented) or "real" Oil-Dry, they're both the same absorbent clay stuff. Dump it on the area and grind it in by twisting your shoe on it. It will crumble and absorb better. Sweep it up. As a final pass, spray the area down with brake cleaner or other solvent; let it penetrate a minute or so, and do the clay stuff again.

If you use the acid, wear a GOOD respirator and have ventilation. The acid will actually dissolve the top surface or the concrete a fraction of an inch deep, REMOVING the stained material.

how would u go about using this muratic acid(i know its for pools)..i mean, do u let it sit, or do u apply to the oil stain and then scrub it? i fu*ked up my parents driveway pretty bad *** all the oil leaked out of my car so it stained the WHOLE driveway, i used some pretty strong degreaser we use at work and scrubbed it, but it didnt really do anything..so im thinking the acid would be my best bet
