Yes. When doing an engine swap on my B13 last year we dropped the engine on the floor and lifted the front of the car high enough to slide it out. We slid the new engine underneath and lowered the front of the car around it. This was in a 1-car garage under a split-level house, so the ceiling was pretty low. Certainly no more than 8 feet high.
ehh i normally drop the motor from the bottom then lift the car it might take a lil bit of muscle to move the motor out from under the car but you wont have to worry about clearing the ceiling. or getting the motor out and up and then realizing you have no more room when oyu need 2 more inches.

You can do it just think, short, short chain and watch your clearance.
If all else fails, get two floor jacks and when the time comes to take out the engine, Lower the jacks toi the point the front rotors are just off the ground. It will give you an additional 4+ inches.

I use the tried-n-true lower the engine and raise the car method. I set my engine (which one? ) on my creeper, and it did just fine. My creeper is really cheap also, so you should be OK.
Well, I didn't want to put the engine down and lift the car. This is in a 240SX, and to drop the crossmember you have to disassemble the suspension on both sides. Too much work.
Anyway, as I stated, I pulled the engine with tranny attached right out the top last night and had no issues with the ceiling.
