Slipping flare nut wrench?

I was working on my old '75 Chevy pickup's brakes and had 2 brake line nuts that would not come loose. I had sprayed the heck out of the connection with PBlaster to no avail. The problem was that the flare nut wrench was slightly expanding as I tried to turn it, so it was rotating around the nut.
In a flash of innovation, I put the flare wrench on the nut, then clamped the wrench tighter with a Vise-Grip plier and viola - the nut loosened.
Sure beats rounding off the nut...

Yes, it's Greg Amy's former car.
And yes, I've broken it...

Lol, that's a good idea. Get yourself the snap-on set, they will never let you down.

I usually move to the channel locks when the flare nut wrench doesn't work, but I've only done this on power steering lines on an S13 where there's plenty of room.

Good idea on the vicegrips, I'll have to file that away.

The rpoblem with using vise grips on these fittings is that it sometimes crushes it rather than clamping it. Then you have a real picnic taking it off.

I didn't say to put the vise grips on the fitting, I said to use the vise grips on the flare wrench to keep the flare wrench from opening up and slipping.
