What do you need to put in there? What's your budget for storage?

I really like the heavy duty wire restaurant shelves they sell at Sam's Club. They have casters on the bottom so you can move them around and they have a 750# capacity. They are really stout and you can load them up big time. I believe they were $80 iirc.

Get some 1" ferring strips and some peg board and cover a wall or two with it, you can hang EVERY thing on the walls, I like it that way a lot.

Plus you decide what goes where, and you can always see everything - good deal.

Make your own workbench. Easier and you get to make sure it fits.

I will be welding together a large workebench/welding station pretty soon. Gonna use 1-1.5" square 16g square tubing and some 18g sheetmetal. Should be fun...

You can make an excellent 8' x 2' workbench with a shelf very easily using just 2x4's, a sheet of plywood, and a Simpson Strong-Tie hardware kit which is under $40 at Lowes and Home Depot.
http://www.strongtie.com/products/DIY/KWB.html

I built one for my garage, and it's very sturdy.

I love working on a rolling metal workbench. I built and welded one to house a large TIG welder. I want to make myslef a welding table/workbench.

Your TIG doesn't have wheels?

I still need to make a cart for my welder as well. The straps on the back for the tank suck ass.

They are just 1"x2" strips of wood that you screw to the wall to space the peg board out from the wall.

Just build your own bench in my dads garage he built a 10 foot bench from scratch and has been working great. We also have a 12 foot bench in the basement, we went to the hardware store and bought the cheapest kitchen counter top they had in clearance section.
As for shelves either check the hardware store or ads in the paper sometimes you can find either cheap kitchen cabinets on sale or lucky enough to find someone remodeling thier kitchen and just throwing out the old ones. When my grandma updated her kitchen we got all the old stuff for free including top cabenets and bottom counter tops and cabenets, about 20 feet of worktop space for free.

Just an idea. . .

Design a workbench that folds up when not in use like this. I have hinges along the back, bottom edge along the wall. Simply pull out the two angled 2x4 legs and it all folds down.

Scraps, you're lazy! Just go buy yourself a box of deck screws. Just kidding. That Strong Tie system is actually pretty cool.

I used a few common space saving techniques in my garage that might help you out...
