Walmart Jack

My friend bought a jack at walmart for $15 and said it is awesome. It is branded with Mack Trucks. Anyone have any experience with them?

Thanks,
Turco

I had the $70 Mack big floor jack from Wal-Mart and it sucked. It stopped holding after about a month. I also had one of the $80 www.homier.com 35# aluminum track jacks that blew out after a year and a half.

I have since replaced the mack with a harbor freight floor jack that was on sale for $40. I replaced the track jack with a Wal-Mart special with comes in a plastic case for $28. They have both worked perfectly so far for 2 months and 4 months respectively..

yes my walmart jack slipped after like 6 months of occasional use.

I got that craftsman jack, man is it beefy. I got it with a creeper and a set of jackstands for a 100 bucks. Great deal

I got mine from Costco. Lifts high enough for motor swaps and has lasted years now.

A jack holding up a 1 ton vehicle with you under it, granted you will have jack stands under there to I don't think I'd trust a cheapy jack.

I don't trust any jack while i'm under a car. It's not made to hold, it's made to jack up and put a jack stand underneath.

What brand and model is it? Not even Larry's jack got my car high enough in one shot, and that one was huge and heavy enough that I couldn't pick it up without hurting my back.

I will check when I get home. It got it so high that I needed to put blocks under the jackstands I had.

It's red, if that helps...

My Wal-Mart jack bent after a few uses and now it is a back up if needed. I got a Sears jack and have not had any issues since.

Well, the jack is only used to get the car up - I use jackstands, so a crappy jack isn't really a safety issue. It would just suck for my car is it fell on the jackstands before they were positioned right.

Ouch - that sucks. I guess I'll have to be careful of then when lifting my car.
